The game locked up after three days

(bc_odds) #1

So I remember I signed up for this game back when it was called Extraction. I never got a key so I decided to just sit it out till it was released. Months later (after forgetting about the game) I get a random email saying ‘Dirty Bomb’ is moving to Steam and I get to play the closed beta. So I happily redeemed the bloody key and started playing around 4 days ago. I followed a few Twitch streamers who play it (like Kudochop) and generally started getting used to the game. I like this game very much believe me.

Now today morning after doing some mommity things on the net I decide to play the game. I open Steam and in my games list ‘Dirty Bomb’ is grayed out. Thinking its just Steam being mommy I try the desktop shortcut but get no reaction. I check my list of programs through start and surprisingly its not there. I dig into the game files and find the launch file (ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe) and Iaunch it through there and voila, the game opens. It takes an awful while to sign in then I get the ‘Unable to connect check your connection’ type of error. Everything else on my computer can connect to the internet so its definately not my end.

So I decide to find the problem. I did a little research and disabled my antivirus plus firewall. Nada. Then I look through my email and find the key. I then go ahead and try to reactivate it through Steam then I get this mommity message:

'Steam-Game Locked.
Dirty Bomb has not been officially released, and cannot be unlocked at this time. Please check the Steam news to find out the release time.
Steam will notify you when the game becomes unlocked.

See more about Dirty Bomb

So when I click on ‘See more about Dirty Bomb’ Steam gives me this error:

'An error was encountered while processing your request:

This item is currently unavailable in your region’

Now if this is the case (I’m from Kenya by the way, thanks for asking) why was I able to play the game in the first place? I was able to put in 5 hours of gameplay without a hitch. So does this mean I can never play again?

If my region is not the problem then these are the things I did before the tragedy:
-I changed my Steam name.
-I did not play yesterday (maybe I have to play everyday?)

If the problem cannot be resolved (very likely) then can I give my key to a friend of mine in the states? I’d hate to think that it’d go to waste. Chances are I won’t be able to play the game even after the official release judging from what I’ve read about Nexon and region locks. Any help will be appreciated.

Yeah, same thing happened to me, was enjoying the game yesterday but today i can’t play it. The play button is gone from steam. But in my case i live in a country that is in fact located in Europe. Nexon has been known for stupid stuff like this but i can’t believe they’re still doing it.
Estonia has been part of Europe since 2004, that’s more than 10 years. I simply don’t understand how this is still possible.

Most likely the country you are accessing from is not on the supported list.

Also they released the supported countries list and while Estonia is in Europe it is not on the supported list like some other countries in Europe. In fact it looks like none of the former USSR nations are on that list. There are even countries not in Europe, North America or near Australia, such as Israel that are on though so wth.

So can I give my key to my friend?

I don’t see why not, if he lives in a serviced area or uses VPN as you could
