The game is good, what now?

(FusionPwN) #1

Hello guys, I’m fairly new to the game and so far i liked it a lot the only thing that bugs me are the loadout cards (not saying that golds or cobalts are OP, I know bronze already has all 3 perks so silver/gold/cobalt cards only change the skin) I would like to know if there are any plans for merc customization and weapon customization (yeah I love a game where you can fully customize a gun) :blush:

(Fap Fap Master) #2

Would love to see weapon customization.
Can’t see it coming in the near future though.

(FusionPwN) #3

Right now I feel that the game has little to do besides buying all the mercs and getting all the cards, I think the loadouts should be a bit more interactive

When an anti-cheat comes, it will make comp more viable and that will give you something to do outside of pubs. New mercs add alot to the game and can change up the way the game is being played. For example, when Stoker comes his molotovs will introduce a whole new dynamic and something players will have to adapt to. Also there is a new map on the way (Dome) and some point in the future special event cards kind of like the obsidian cards the alpha testers have. Also steam trading will be something, but not for a while becuase that will take alot of work to set up and the game is still in beta so its obvious there are other, higher priorities. Theres alot to look forward to, the game becomes more fun the more you play. The most boring thing for me was the intial grind to get good cards but now after 300 hours I have all the loadouts I want and enough credits to buy the next new merc, maybe if you want something to do try setting yourself a target for credits, or even try and grind away to a cobalt in your favourite merc, this is what I have done and I still enjoy the game. Which say alot because right now there is only a handful of maps, most other game would have got repetitive by now, DB is a pleasant surprise.

For a beta the game is really optimized, I haven’t checked the game engine they are using but my FPS are great I’ll give them that, I haven’t seen game breaking bugs, actually I think I haven’t seen a bug yet at least not one that I can remember. I’ve been playing MM currently I’m gold V I lost most of the games because the teams don’t comunicate, people just play like it’s a pub… For now I just bought Proxy I like her I have a gold loadout card for her, but I feel like some mercs are kind of “useless” or less used if you are playing in a team, for example the sniper, everytime someone plays with a sniper in MM it’s a lost game. The MM system really needs some work urgently (maybe everyone should pick a role before searching for a match)

@FusionPwN

The game runs on the Unreal Engine 3 and on Dx9 so its a pretty old engine to be fair. Alot of people claim to have issues running it but I get a constant 60fps with a 8320E and a gtx660. As far as bugs, yes there are a couple known but not many game breaking. There is one right now that people are exploiting for easy XP but from what I can tell it will be fixed in todays patch. MM isn’t close to being a solid platform for the more competitive crowd, hackers and bad balancing drove the hardcore fans away (at least for now) so its usually filled with people that have to play it for a side mission or people that are new and want to try it out. Merc usage can be a problem depending on the current free rotation at the time, but that is to be expected. Most influential merc right now are probably, Fragger for the all out killing class (assault), Fletcher for engi (specialist) Sawbonez/Sparks for medic (depends on preference though), support is difficult because Skyhammer is by far the best balanced and has one of the easiest guns to use (M4A1) but Arty and Kira offer a fairly good fight, Kira probably would be second choice due to the fact she is more nimble and has the Laser of Doom (orbital laser to common folk) Arty got a good buff last patch though and his arty strike is now incredibly effective. Then you have Vasili as the markman, beat red eye at the ranges snipers are expected to operate but redeye offers a more aggressive play style due to him having the Granduer (M14) or the ever effective Driess AR. BTW that all my opinion people will say other mercs and thats fine, varity is the spice of life and all that! When it come to people actually chosing a role for a match though, well I have come across maybe a handful of games in my 300 hours of playtime that has had a well organized and well balanced team and thats in pubs or MM. Things will improve though because its early days yet but the future for this game will be bright, just need a few issues sorted (anti-cheat and balancing) and we’ll have a fun, solid fps game that is also F2p and not P2W.

What happened to just playing the game.

I’m running the game on a Stock Pentium K and a GT630, i get a solid 60fps at 1024x768 and medium settings(I could play higher resolutions but I’m an old schoold FPS player so this is the best for me). The game works like a charm on my PC, although sometimes the main menu and the lobby feels a bit laggy, but my FPS counter shows 160FPS… weird :#

Is this XP exploit the reason I saw a bunch of LVL58 players? :smiley:

One of the thing I like in the game is that there are so many roles and team combinations already and for what I can tell there are many more to come. Did the devs post a roadmap for the development of the game?

I’ve been playing the game a lot, but I grow tired of grinding… In fact a lot of people do, the game needs the balance fixes for sure, but it also needs content “fast”

I’ve never really understood why people always want MORE
like you’re playing the game, if it isn’t enough fun then why are you still playing?

You are missing my point, I’m not saying it isn’t fun, it is otherwise I wouldn’t be playing right now. What I’m saying is that I can’t wait to see what the game will become, I believe it has a great future ahead and I hope the company takes good care of it (like it has so far, first FPS where I dont smell P2W on the lobby) not like many other FPS games that I’ve played

(Mister__Wiggles) #12

Yeah high levels are usually the boosters but there are genuine level 60’s out there from the comp seen. And as far as I know there is no roadway but they have said the next mercs will be from the scrubs trailer which means pheonix and turtle and probably in that order. The new map won’t be long either because they have shown it off on streams with the textures so it’s probably in the quality control phase now which is one step from full release.

(FusionPwN) #13

Will this come with the new execution game mode?

(Mister__Wiggles) #14

@FusionPwN

Not sure, I can’t see why not but I know Dome is a objective stopwatch map so it seems unlikely but not impossible.

[quote=“Fap Fap Master;67929”]Would love to see weapon customization.

Some customizations like this were shown on a roadmap. And it makes sense to add to the game to make the playerbase happy and it could help with the credit situation where once you own all the mercs you want you have little else to do with credits unless you’re in to super low % gambles on loadout cards.

(Mister__Wiggles) #16

@Amerika
Do you have a link to that roadmap? I’ve never seen it and would be cool to see what is coming!

(Derpfestor) #17

I actually want to see PVE, show a bit of story about radiation filled London.

(Amerika) #18

@Mister__Wiggles It’s definitely on this forum somewhere as it’s an image of something SD showed somewhere. But I don’t have a direct link to it. Some other long time posters might remember it or have it archived somewhere though.

Even if it was found make sure you remember that things can and do rapidly change when software is being developed and things they thought they were going to do in the past might not be something they will do now or do soon. So keep that in mind. It does make sense to eventually change the loadout system a little bit and to offer up customizations though to increase the longevity of the game for both players and as a source of income for the developers.

(Mister__Wiggles) #19

Ok thanks, Im well aware that nothing is final but would be cool to see what is being thought of for the future, I love this game and Im excited to see what it can become. Im all for the weapon customization, I wouldn’t mind custom camos you can buy and place on your cards. I aslo think that community missions should be a thing, maybe do one a month and the reward for achieve said goal would be a custom skin or a case that gives you a random weapon skin.

(FusionPwN) #20

@Amerika The roadmap I found on the forums is outdated
