The frame rate was not fixed Splash GG

(Ohsnapkline) #1

[s]I was really excited for this update because I use to stream at 60 frames and play the game at stable 60 frames. after the update then some constant crashing I reinstall the game played it only to have it dip from 120 frames to 20 i’ve tried every fix and graphic setting the problem is the game itself.

The update did not fix the game for me and my friends and its terrible optimization/frame rate, some say its running the same but my friends with newer Gpu’s all say the game still runs like hot garbage. GG Splash your Inept at everything you do and no amount of please don’t hate us videos on youtube will fix that, Please do the world a favor and leave the gaming industry entirely.

as of now i’m uninstalling and regret ever supporting this game that is still in freaking beta.[/s]

Edit: I Found the fix run Dirty Bomb at high process priority threw task manager then GG, if you plan on streaming the game run both the game and your streaming software on High Priority and consider switching out of x264 encoding (I switched to Nvidia H.264 encoding which takes stress of the CPU and puts it on the GPU) because both streaming software and dirty bomb put a huge stress on your CPU for some reason now.

Lol bye

(Sucrose) #3

yea… game still runs about the same.

(Jostabeere) #4

I mean, I get that for some people it stayed the same, for some improved. But I can’t believe that you used to have a stable 120 FPS and now you got down to 20.

(Trestos) #5

My fps ran stable before the update with around 80-90 fps
now it’s jumping around 30-160 fps

(Ohsnapkline) #6

it jumps up and down a lot with how much action is on screen when i stream with OBS at 60 frames i use play the game at a stable 60 frames i would lock it with v sync since OBS liked a constant frame rate.

but now regardless of what i do if i stream at 30 or 60 frames, turn down the graphics or what ever the frame rate jumps around a lot it will often jump from 60 to 20 frames and nothing has changed software or hardware wise this stated happening after summer squash update 2.

when i don’t stream at all i still get shotty frame rate and i’m not the only one i’ve talked to my friends and watch streamers play db it has either not changed or is still bad frame rate.

(Trestos) #7

I have stable fps if I just be around and running to heal or shoot people. If I join a fight at close range my game starts to get laggs and drops to 30 fps

(TheStrangerous) #8

I get minor hiccups of FPS drops here and there, when it’s intense. Overall everything else is smooth.

(Trestos) #9

sounds like my problem

(strawberryJacket) #10

Yup, pretty much the same for me but now FPS drops are even more severe (pre patch i would drop to 50 from 120, now i drop to 20 from 130). As far as i can tell if you had >100 fps pre patch then it wont change anything for you since they didnt fix stutters.

(Ohsnapkline) #11

OK I found a fix its manageable but i’m not happy about having to cut down to 30 frames in OBS when I stream but I can use filters and sharpen the game capture a bit so I can deal I guess, I recommend this for anyone else having frame issues

I set both OBS and Dirty Bomb on the HIGH process priority (or just dirty bomb if you don’t stream duh =p) I bumped down all the graphics and set the game to border-less window mode turned off v-sync.

I can stream games @ 60 with much higher graphic fidelity but for some reason Dirty Bomb causes my CPU to just crap out I beleive that no real optimizations were made with the games update but the core issue lies with the games engine and it running on direct x 9 32 bit and the game mishandling the CPU reasources.

with all these down grades I’m ruining the game at about 70 frames average but even still the game hiccups when I get really close to enemy right up in there face during skirmishes the frame rate will flat out spaz just like @understandingKaleidoscope said and this is when i’m not streaming also.

I’m going to try and video capture with nvidia encoding and see if i can get any improvement

I think the frame rate issues had anything to do with the maps improvements but is an underlying issue with how the game was programmed, also the game keeps crashing when I leave a match now.

(prismaticDinosaur) #12

Its ridiculous. happy, stable 120 fps before the “update” now vicious fps drops down to fucking stutter whenever something serious happens. game is unplayable now.

Kinda liked the game until today, please roll back this shit ASAP.

(prismaticDinosaur) #13

not even mentioning the various other, obvious bugs. like the ammostation.

what the effing hell did you test this garbage? you made a vid about it. wtf did you do in the last 2 weeks?

(Dr_Plantboss) #14

Well well well, this is the third time I’ve posted this same quote…

(prismaticDinosaur) #15

there is no other thing as rage, this patch was uberfail

rollback pls

(SnakekillerX) #16

I use to have a lot of inconsistent frame jumps from around 50~150 or so with occasional micro stutters (the worst part).

Haven’t had a single micro stutter today after playing for a few hours and the frame rate seems to be around 170 pretty consistently on all the maps I remembered to check on. (with a full server to boot)

I say good job Splash Damage, it looks and runs great for me… not sure why it is having worse performance for some others. From what they’ve done to clean up the game (from a technical stand point) it honestly makes no sense for it to run worse than before.

Its like… saying you have a hard time rendering 30,000 polygons, so they reduce it to 20,000 and you go… “good job, now it runs even worse!”, when that really shouldn’t be.

“Roll back” the update because not even a handful of people have large issues while outshining majority of the playerbase is either unaffected or just getting outright better performance?

My humblest apologies m’Lord @prismaticDinosaur , but may I suggest thee a prompt, rather healthy maneuver, involving extraction of your cranial part of the body from the rear end, where it seems to have unfortunately gotten fastened into.

But hey, I’ll be a nice guy and remind you to make sure you’ve noticed this:

[quote=“stayfreshshoe;33475”]Frame Capping

With this update, we’re capping the framerate of the game to 180fps by default.

At very high client framerates, Unreal Engine 3 starts to run into issues with physics calculations that causes the server to start making frequent corrections to the player position, leading to ‘rubber-banding’. The framerate cap will help prevent physics de-syncs like this from happening, and should result in smoother gameplay for high end machines.

This requires a change to your client .ini files, so there is now a popup warning that will appear if your ini files are read only and an important change has been made:

I doubt Splash Damage will ever stop trying to improve the FPS for every one. The thing is though Dirty Bomb is not a console game. Nothing is really set in stone like that. There are millions of different configuration Splash Damage has to account for and I doubt they can do all of them in just 1 of a few patches. They are only human. They need time to do it right and try to help as many people as they possibly can.

(hawkeyeguy99) #19

I have never once had frame rate issues and after this update I still don’t. In general I’m very pleased with this update and think it’s a great step forward for the game.

(Icecoal) #20

I hope you follow your own advice to uninstall the game. Considering what a charming person you are , you’ll surely be missed.

I never had issues with the performance, and now after the update it runs even smoother. While I understand your frustration there is no need to throw such a tantrum.

Btw its highly unbelievable that you went from 120 fps to 20 and what friends are you talking of ? Arnt we exaggerating a bit ?
