The EV takes too much damage from explosions, and too little fom bullets

(handyHeirloom) #1

If you don’t have a skyhammer, kira, or an arty, you can’t win on offense. A rhino unloading his minigun at point blank on the EV should be AT LEAST 40% of it’s health, but sadly EV maps just turn into a fuckfest of depending on a few people.

(MTLMortis) #2

This is why you have a 3 merc loadout. Plan accordingly.

(Draza) #3

If it took more damage from bullets, it would be too easy.

No, it really wouldn’t. I’m not talking about 100 bullets kills it, i’m talking about a full clip of the kek-10 should do maybe 9-10%

The bullet damage vs. explosives damage is fine.

Engineers? They should get a damage bonus vs. the EV, or have the opportunity to dismantle the EV in a similar manner to Attackers repairing.

That’s actually not a bad idea.

In my opinion it is balanced, if bullets would do more damage on the EV you could simply shopt on it with a whole team. Right now you need a balance between skyhammers / medics etc. If you play attacking, you should get multiple engineers and medics to take care of the EV. It can be repaired quickly, but is vulnerable for airstrikes.

(AirborneVolley) #8

@handyHeirloom If one clip of a kek 10 would do 10% dmg… it means a whole team has to shoot less than one and a half clip to disable the EV, which is ridiculously nothing.

(handyHeirloom) #9

That would be fine. All a skyhammer has to do is press q from across the map, and its disabled from that alone. Getting a whole team to shoot it is impractical, and enemies would be able to pick you off. I thought defense was supposed to defend, not hide and wait to repair again.

(ZombieVirus) #10

Yeah, me and friends actually tested this out, my team and i all became Rhino, while we had one friend on the enemy team, he became proxy and repaired it, and we all blasted it with our mini guns, and it took forever before we disabled it, and then he repaired it in seconds, after that we all played Skyhammer and our poor proxy playing friend barley ever got it to move, and we never had to shoot at him, ether the airstrikes took him out, or he was too busy repairing the EV

(LifeupOmega) #11

God forbid you have to use the designated merc classes to destroy the EV.

Hey guys, we don’t run a medic but we have a hard time getting people up, can we just let non-medics pick people up faster? Oh yeah, and none of us are engineers either, can’t we just plant and defuse 50% faster 'cause we didn’t plan accordingly?

(MTLMortis) #12

Don’t use rhino for that kind of test. Minigun = lowered vehicle dmg

Just use regular rifle from Skyhammer and see how long it takes to go down if you want a real test.

(blonk) #13

You have no excuse for not having at least skyhammer on a map with an EV beyond inexperience. If you aren’t building your squad in a way that takes into account the objectives you’d better be shit hot, otherwise you’re a total dead weight. Surely you can surrender one merc slot to shore up a possible (read: every second public objective game) gap in the team?

(MTLMortis) #14

If you can shut them down from escorting or repping you don’t really need area damage. Halfway point on Chapel is a perfect example. You can slam the door closed on any attempts to repair or escort by walling off from house to curved stair.

(King_Gibbon) #15

in a similar manner to Attackers repairing.

Maybe they could use their repair tools to damage as well as repair. Not as quickly as explosives but not as slow as bullets. Much like repairers, only one person can dismantle. This would also mean a damaging engineer would be as vulnerable as a repairer.

(blisteringOwlNest) #16

There used to be an augment to damage EV more. Maybe it’ll be brought back in the upcoming 2nd generation of loudout cards.

(PleasantWheat) #17

That EV damaging augment would be interesting to see on rhino

(RedBeard) #18

What really makes you think that?
