The Downhill of our beloved and how to slow it down

So SD should pick a side and effectively communicate that decision with the express intent to triage. If SD decides to side with casuals, DB will likely experience a significant exodus of experienced players, but at least SD will then have the freedom to pursue the game they now want to build and DB will likely be healthier for it. General “toxicity” will likely decrease as SD can more easily manage their new unified community because the truth is the most significant cause behind DB’s “toxicity” is SD themselves and their inability to satisfy anybody with their @$!# patches.

Being humble with their expectations is a must as well. CMM and the whole economic system are not sustainable with experienced players because they’re not into those. They don’t need both and would generally trade improvements in those fields for proper content and gameplay updates.

But as a flip side to that coin, they will support your game, no matter the hype sourrounding it.

With the current player count DB has, I don’t expect it to raise more than 3 times at max right after the 1.0 release. So either content a nice volley of sparrows that will quit the boat as soon as the next obsidian skin is considered as a scam or a merc modified to the point it ruins the scrubs public game experience, or content people that are still expecting that good ol’ fun for nothing else than proper needed adjustements to this game.

SD will inevitably have to make their communication loud and clear, and act accordingly, which is not an easy task for them to say the least. They already delivered a couple of games in the past where same flaws already showed.

Your fine post sums up my last 4 weeks posts here so well. Thank you @Meerkats

Just as a quick memo, 1.0 was due for Q1 2018 during the end of 2017. And so far, NOTHING indicates that its delayed to content either one side of the half or the other. So this game will stay of this half assed situation for good sadly…

They are dumbing down the game (increasing projectile speed, nerfing mobility, and 7 out of the last 10 champions have fully automatic hitscan weapons - there used to be 2 of them), selling skins for overpowered champions instead of balancing them.
Wait, are we referring to Quake/Unreal or DB? If it’s Quake/Unreal then rip, I don’t want to see those games go casual.

I was one of the last of my friends to stop playing DB and the main reason are the unwanted updates. Don’t get me wrong, updates are great, and some of the updates have been great. However, some updates changed or added things that were unnecessary and ultimately ruined gameplay. Some of this comes from people complaining way too much and other things seemed to be pretty random.

Can’t really think of much off the top of my head (it’s been a while since I’ve played or looked at updates). The changes to bolt action sniper rifles, the grandeur, and the driess is one thing I hated. Really unnecessary. The Felix moves in slow motion and is just awkward and clunky now. Updates like that seemed to be over-balancing the game. There were more as well. Updates to Javelin because some claimed she was OP. Sure, she needed some tweaks, as have other mercs, but the updates nerfed various mercs to uselessness.

I personally have a lot more reasons as to why I stopped playing; none of which were a deciding factor, rather it was just the combination of them. Bad maps/map updates, unwanted changes, CMM, removal of Execution, etc. It pushed me away, as it did others. DB had a lot of potential, but at this point, (haven’t checked updates in a while so I’m not too sure what’s going on just yet), it probably can’t be saved unless major reverts happen.

Gonna hop into DB right now and see what’s up.
