Simply put, why can’t we play the blockout of dockyard map just like any other map? Or just have some servers that include it in the rotation? We need new maps and I don’t really see a downside, so long as it is clear that is not the final map.
The Dockyard Blockout
I guess SD don’t want non-production ready stuff out in the wild, hence the PTS and stuff. Seems a bit silly given the game’s in beta but then again people already brew up serious storms about bugs and the likes, maybe they’d just rather save themselves the headaches of people going “hurr why this map look crap”
But I’d love to play it some more :’(

This is everything. All the bitching and moaning about Dome in spite of the game being in what could be considered a beta phase some years ago, was just fucking maddening.
Maybe they want a major redesign…because if I remember correctly there was that spot where the EV broke down…it was so hard to repair and move it forward because a engineer was so exposed.
I doubt it’ll look anything like old Dockyard, but please keep the invincible bush!
I reckon I’ll have to play at this “unskinned” version so can avoid my glorious 1.16fps
ive come to the conclusion that new maps should be nr1 priority and the main method of refreshing the game.
veterans leave cause for how long can you play on 6maps!
we need at least 6 more maps, i do hope they can hire some mappers, make a contest or an SDK, features like casual MM and bug squashing are great, but that wont be enough to bring people back into the game

The really frustrating thing is that SD should already know this - @Faraleth 's poll this time last year clearly showed that the most wanted thing by the community was new maps. That was around the same time we last saw Dockyard alive.
WELLLLLLL, we don’t really need that many more maps TBH. Like, CS:GO only has 7 maps that are actually played, what we actually need is a proper ranked mode and an actual incentive to get people into it. If you think about it, most people buy cs to play the competitive mode not the crappy casual mode. In comparison, DB players are stuck in the “crappy” casual mode with no way to reliably play ranked (not enough players + ranked being disabled often for stupidly long periods of time making it even more dead!!!) (like seriously, removing ranked to get used to the new map changes that aren’t even that major anyway, for what? 2 - 3 weeks now?)
Anyway I’ve strayed a bit from the topic xD Basically, maps aren’t the reason I’d leave, even after 900 hours. No ranked = nothing to work towards which makes people get bored and leave. I reached that point a long time ago, but I like playing with my friends so thats the reason I still hop on every now and then.

I still can’t believe they removed rank for this reason. And it is been weeks now
they removed ranked because match making wasn’t working, when and if it does, it’ll be back for testing

CS is a weird example though - a lot of the core maps have been there for at least a decade, probably even longer than that. Those are your good ol’ pub classics, your pie and eels. When CS (the mod for Half Life) was around and up until the 1.6 days there were loads of maps that didn’t make it into future versions (bit of CS_747 anyone?). Of course that had community tools alongside it but come on, Dirty Bomb is still in beta, keeping with the current map selection is just mental. From an outsider perspective it indicates a lack of development, there’s no avoiding that.
I’d be happy to accept the current merc roster as final (maybe we’ll ask Thunder to get on the next train) but maps are the spice of the game. They should experiment with different things and pushing different metas, and maps are a great way to do this.

so much this
Hopefully a map SDK is in the works given the glacial pace of Dockyard development.
Vertical map instead of the usual horizontal progression we can go deeper into a hole or a skyscrapper while fixing generators to remove radiation dust from the next area.
the team will need to be able to do trickjumps to play efficiently in the map.

Any map with mandatory trickjumps is going to be hated by new players, which is like, 90% of the active community.

Feel like this would be a pretty interesting series for community made maps if/when they ever become a thing. Though it would be cool to see something like this made by SD as well.
Almost feels like it could be deserving of it’s own game mode as well if we are focusing heavily on skill based trick jumps to get around more efficiently.
Pushing it to the limits would be fun… like a gap that only light weight mercs like aura/proxy/aimee/etc can get past while everyone else has to go around. Or an HP damaging area (like the gas) where speed nor tankyness is enough, but a combination of the two may work. (phoenix) etc… Of course, there would need to be some point in being able to get to that point in the map without the rest of your team. (to hit a switch to open a path… or maybe arm sentry guns in a certain part of the map against your enemy… etc)
Anyway, rant aside, its a cool idea, I’d love to play a map like that on either side.
if people dont want to do trick jumps (which is one of the core gameplay in the game) why bother playing the game?
go play call of duty…
oh wait…

It’s because they actually aren’t the core of anything. Prominent maybe, but I managed to get by for a long time without really using any.
