The Dark Age is upon us

So, Dirty Bomb is finally in Open Beta and there’s a sudden influx of players…although that’s probably not the right word, since a “player” is someone who…plays the game.

This is from a game I played yesterday.
4 MINUTES AND 35 SECONDS!

As you can see, only me and the person below me were trying to play. We had 2 guys who were AFK from the beginning of the round(the ones with 0 and 1 xp), and 3 guys who went AFK after dying repeatedly. The Skyhammer and the Fragger killed themselves which caused them to level down and go to -1. They literally LEVELED DOWN

Unfortunately, this has happened multiple times within a few days. Votekicking is out of the question since it requires more than one player to vote. So yeah…we need an auto kick for AFKs. ASAP.

P.S. Don’t fix the negative level bug. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but damn…I didn’t know someone could be THAT bad

AFK’ers gets auto-kicked after a short amount of time.

(D.C.V.) #3

@Runeforce Wow. So I guess these people were shooting every once in a while to counter that? Maybe votekicking should be changed so that your enemies can votekick your teammates then.
Anyways, some of them left(or got kicked?) when we changed map, but 2-3 were still there, taking up player slots. Do you know how many seconds need to pass before someone gets kicked for being AFK?

(Runeforce) #4

No, I don’t know exactly how long. But it was increased a bit, because people found themselves kicked after doing a quick bathroom break.

(unrealTanker) #5

i get kicked out constant cause ime to high lvl. and than new players ask us to be nice to them meh…

(Aazhyd) #6

Do you still get money when you a negative score? If so, they were maybe farming?

(Humbug) #7

doesn’t seem very effective, because you get kicked for being afk xD
nice screenshot though

You get credits over time but I don’t think they noticed that. At one point, I saw a Skyhammer going full auto on some very distant enemies. He kept doing that and he eventually ran out of mags. So instead of throwing an ammo box, he pulled out his sidearm and tried to camp in a building :expressionless: There’s no way he knew about details like credit earnings.

I’m just a bit confused about all the Skyhammers who never drop ammo, they did play the tutorial right?

(Runeforce) #10

Sounds like a credit farming bot.

I’m pretty sure you gain XP even if you’re sitting in spawn. Not a lot but more than 1 or 0. You might have lost some players and new ones filled up the spots but they were still trying to deploy after getting to the lobby. The game spawns characters in as you join the lobby once you set your loadouts/classes…but then they still have to wait 15 seconds for completely unknown reasons (which can cause you to get killed once or twice before you can even control your character in some games).

Also, I saw the -1 level thing the other day and laughed quite a bit. Some guy managed to have an end score of -100 and he showed up as level -1 at the end of the match. It was kind of hilarious.

They have to fix that asap or at least give room master a bit more power to be able to kick these people in time. Sure some people will abuse the power but eventually everything will work out just fine.

(D.C.V.) #13

I don’t understand those people. Like I said, some of them forget to even drop ammo for themselves… At least Auras are forced to share their heal

i can get why so many ppl crying about new players

u cant blame them they for not knowing everything from the start

everyone of us was in that situation when we start as close beta players

when we start there were alpha players and now for them, maybe is a little bit more harder…but its a matter of time

But we can complain because new players aren’t being segregated with other new players. It makes a lot of sense to separate veterans from newbies (newbies get sick of being owned and veterans get sick of playing with people that haven’t got a clue). Many people will walk away long before this problem resolves itself.

Then again, SD thinks it is a good idea to have us playing on servers halfway around the world instead of playing on ‘local’ servers, so it kind of makes sense that they would get this wrong.

(Jaso) #16

well everyone can complain as much as he want …its his right  but my point is …
dont think i would knew so much cool tricks and stuff if i wouldnt watch alpha players what they do when i joined

How they suppose to learn this game if not by watching what skilled players do …well they gonna learn it eventually but not as fast as we need

(Aazhyd) #17

Dropping an ammo crate is not higher knowledge or a special trick. It’s what Skyhammer is MEANT to do. It even says at your screen to press E.

(flameChicken) #18

Guys… watch out for a player named Sajuki, I don’t know if he/she is hacking but he/she is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

(CCP115) #19

No hate intended, but really? Skyhammer is indeed built around giving ammo and spamming airstrikes.

The tutorial needs to be compulsory, I swear.

Speaking of new players, watch Angry Joe’s YT video of him streaming DB.

90% of the 42 minutes was anger over the cost of cases and elite cases, and even the veteran player talking over voice with him failed to explain that anything above bronze are pure bling, nor that you get an abundance of regular cases and lead/iron cards to use in crafting said bronze load-out cards.

The gameplay, whether good or bad, got completely lost in how poorly explained, and thus perceived, the entire load-out system is, and this from a couple of guys who play games for a living.

There need to be huge signs, massive screens explaining this in few, easy to read words. They need to be bold all across the store.

Yes, I know it’s stated in what strikes the tone of fine print at some places. Not good enough; why lose players and get mired in wrongly perceived “p2w” or “horrible system” when it’s anything but those things, simply because you make the font too damn small?

Not to mention failing to make clear that your bloody load-out card means very, very little in the end. AJ was almost expecting to play better because he finally had some silver and gold cards, and why wouldn’t a new player?

I actually enjoy DB. It’s fun, the pew pew is good, I like the various mercs, I even like the load-out system. Stop dropping the ball over minor details and turn them into bad reviews.
