Thanks you Devs

(Sorry if this has been said before)

Thank you for NOT oversexualizing the females in this game. Take a loot at any game nowadays, and tits are bound to be where there are females. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not gay, and I enjoy a nice pair of breasts, but the standards in videogames nowadays are just ridiculous cough Overwatch cough

So thanks devs.

Btw, there is not enough girls in current mercs, where is the equality ? :stuck_out_tongue:

(einstyle) #3

IIRC, they’ve said they wanted to have a 1:1 male to female ratio eventually with all the mercs
while I don’t mind it, I still think in a game like DB, it’s easier to design distinctive male characters than females, just because you have more possibilities
sure, the females in DB aren’t really sexualized, but they still fit into the female character criteria of having a slim body and a more or less pretty face (while male mercs aren’t really bound to fit into that scheme)

(ev1ldarks) #4

Just to say that some girls I know would be pleased if more female mercs emerges ^^

(Eox) #5

Heh, I have seen much worse than Overwatch when its about boobies and oversexualisation of female character… I think it’s actually more an issue that you’ll encounter in most of corean MMOs : if one of you guys have played the decadent mess that is S4 League, you know what I am talking about. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you don’t mind I would love to hear you explain how this makes sense.

like I said, I just think it’s more of a challenge for the Devs to make distinctive and unique female characters, because after all, the options for variations are more limited compared to male characters (which often times vary more in body types, facial hair, height, etc. in games)
not saying they shouldn’t do it, just expressing my thoughts

(solt.) #8

Totally, just curious as to why females can’t have varied body types, height etc. As you wrote.

(einstyle) #9

I don’t really know, maybe because it isn’t as accepted in videogames. There are a few takes on it (I remember Loadout for example) but such designs often result in a quite ridiculous vibe.

(RuleofBooKz) #10

and here i was just today saying they should take the health station out of the game entirely and instead give aura pink coloured health packs. much better for balance

(DB Genome editor) #11

There are 4 female mercs in those that are currently sidelined, for sure we’ll see more of them soon.

Most action heroes tend to be fit, so you don’t find a lot of “big” women. That doesn’t mean you have less options in character design. Not just can you do big if you want to, you could also do big gear/clothes instead.

Not to mention that you don’t need that many big body types to begin with, even Fragger wouldn’t be nearly as big as he is without his ridiculously oversized rucksack. He would work just fine as a woman, it’s not like you can really see what’s fat and what’s muscle under all that gear.

As for sexualisation in general, I would say that’s simply a matter of artstyle. Dirty Bomb has a more edgy / subdued artstyle, which idealises neither the males nor females. That’s pretty refreshing for a change, although I have no problem with the alternative either.

Its actually very simple, You can do male extremes alot easier than female extremes. That give devs an easier job since they can do pretty much anything they want and no one will be offended by it as long its a male character (As long it doesnt discriminate women by its behavior).

My guess is that its related to how society strives for female rights rather than gender equality (notice how its exactly the same thing but the wording makes it different).
Because of this difference female characters in videogames (or anywhere else for that matter) are examined and judged harder than male characters to make sure they arent offensive or discriminative to women.

Those are just my thoughts and speculations-

There are less females than males in this game.
The other females that arent ingame atm:

Rest of the mercs:
