http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-2410M-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2400S

tldr: around 50% higher benchmarks on your side

Memory shouldnt be an issue as long as its >4gigs with adequate bus speed
yea but the 2410M got 7.5 while my 2400s only got 7.3

but the 2400s is waaaaay more expensive than the 2410M

i guess price sometimes lies.

They prob rated them with price, and 2400s is better than 2410m if you look at the comparison.

And 2400s is quad core while 2410m is dual

Don’t want to be that guy, but I’mma harsh on your GPU. The Radeon GPU (Graphics Processing Unit, i.e. your graphics card) does not run 3D games very well. If you wanna play something that’s more in the 2d range like a TCG (i.e. Games like a digital card game like Hearthstone or something) it can work well for you, but it won’t run this kind of game well. At least in my experience with Radeons. I would suggest getting a desktop build with an NVIDIA 660, at least. That runs DB okay. You can get a refurbished on one newegg for like 60 bucks cheaper than the standard pricing. You need a solid desktop PC. An i5 will do you okay, but you definitely need a better graphics card and maybe more ram.

@civilRoad As what he mentioned, I believe GPU is the major factor of his poor FPS performance. Although there are many other factors too. You would never ever want to have a GPU that’s close to the edge or on the edge of the minimum system requirement. And on an laptop.

Maybe DB’s fast pace is just to fast pace for most older CPUs… or maybe the netcode behind DB is just overloaded, it just takes more CPU requirement than just a 4 core CPU… will an 8 core be good enough for this F2P UE3 game?

@K1X455 You should be okay with a quad core, unless it’s dated, in which case it might be slightly fried. A six-core should do you fine too, but I doubt you’d need to buy an 8-core just to play this game. Focus on a decent graphics card (NVIDIA 660 or 750 ti) and a decent amount of ram (8-16 GB), and make sure you have a decent internet connection. (You should be pinging a max of 80. If it’s over that check your server or your connection. 80 ping connections can make the hitboxes glitchy.)

Don’t forget you can also counter laptop heat somewhat with cooling pads. They sit under your laptop, they plug into a usb port on your laptop for power, and they just blow air. Dunno how much it helps, but it stops my craptop from overheating and shutting down whenever I play games on it.

my brother’s laptop didnt work very well even tho theres an external fan underneath it.

the only solution to his laptop is to pull out the hardware from the case and let it play naked.

Honestly, I got better.

My rig was built to run DX12 (and among other memory intensive things). I got i7-6700K@4GHz, 32GB DDR4 & ATI Radeon RX480. I get pings to AU Servers between 5~24ms… honestly, I’m targetting between 55~65ms for comfort… unfounded but I like the 60ms latency for this game. Graphic test benchmarks using DOOM using Vulkan is AAAAAMMMMmmmaaaaazzzziiinnnggg!!! Then I feel 5H1+ running DB…
