.tga files without a background

(BaronBlabla) #1

I seem to have a little problem. Whenever I edit any of the .tga files from ET and test them, the backgrounds that weren’t there are now white. When I remove the background in Photoshop and save it as .tga it’ll still be white. How to solve this?

Afaik there is a bug in the tga plugin of Photoshop 7, where alpha channels don’t work. You should install the 7.1 update.

add and alpha channel otherwise it wont disappear, and when you save it as .tga it has to be 32bit not 24bit

I’ve got Adobe Photoshop CS2… Dunno about that…

You need to make it 32 bit as mentioned, and NON compressed. Also remember that you need a special shader in order for the alpha to work (unless it’s the loading pic). Check the shaders for the original alphas to get some idea.

The limbo menu for example has no shader files in there. And where can I find that alpha stuff and how to use it?

I’mnot sure that you can make the limbo menu invisble, but alpah channel just make a new channel with photoshop CS2, it will call it alpha channel (well does with mine) it is just a white layer. white = can be seen, so if you make a black dot in the middle of the alpha channel, there will be a hole in what you see

here is a tut how to make a watermark with alpha channel, from there you might learn what you need:
