Textures won't show up

(MCEmperor) #1

Hi all,

I am designing a map with GTKRadiant and I use EasyGen Terrain Generator for making the terrain. But if I export the .map file with EasyGen and compile it with GTKRadiant, the terrain exists, but is invisible.

Is there something wrong with the .shader file? I already added my .shader file to the shaderlist.txt.

Can someone help me?

maybe you have disabled terrain in filters?
view/filter

never saw that you can filter terrain/textures …

@MCEmperor what do you exactly mean with “the terrain exists, but is invisible”?
how do you want to know if it exists when you cant see it?

First of all, thanks for the quick reply to my thread.

But I guess I’ve not been clear about my problem. So, next try :stuck_out_tongue:

In GTKRadiant it shows up as ‘terrain’ texture, like it’s supposed to. Nothing wrong with it. Absolutely no problems with GTK.
But if I compile the map to a bsp file and load the map in Enemy Territory, the terrain is invisible.

While playing the map, I can walk in the air, and that’s why I know there is soil beneath me. Only in ET the textures won’t show up.

Hello

Do you add you shadder name on the shaderlist.txt?

ex: my_map.shadder

you need to add:
my_map
in you shaderlist.txt

Also, you can take a look at console (et.exe) if you see some warning in yellow.

I also had this problem a while ago but i cant remember how i fixed it ^^

  1. do you use a skybox?
  2. do you have anything else in your map and does it cut/overlap your terrain?
  3. do you have a “your_terrain.pcx” in etmain?
  4. are all textures in the right path? (etmain/textures/ …)
  5. do you have level pieces in your terrain?

no idea if this questions will help but atm i have no better idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I like checklists :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. do you use a skybox? Yes
  2. do you have anything else in your map and does it cut/overlap your terrain? No
    3. do you have a “your_terrain.pcx” in etmain? Yes
  3. are all textures in the right path? (etmain/textures/ …) Yes
  4. do you have level pieces in your terrain? Yes

I have great news: it works. Problem was: the alphamap was placed in the Wolfenstein Enemy Territory map by default. The solution was moving the mapname.pcx to etmain. After doing that, it worked and still works.

Thank y’all for your help.
