I came across this site, it is full of game ready textures, it will be a great help to mappers, such as my self.
Textures (A Mappers Dream)
they have some good textures and some really, really bad ones. some of the bad ones you can tell were just single-clicked seemless filtered. for instance, the gimp’s make seemless filter will make a horrible diamond-like tiling pattern if the material is poorly prepped. same goes for the texturizer filter. good results can be achieved if the time is taken to do it properly. another helpful tool is image doctor’s smart fill photoshop filter(IIRC it works with paint shop pro as well) but again it takes work to get good results.
back to the textures in question, i wouldn’t exactly call them game ready, at least not quake game ready. many of them are not square or a rectangle of the right ratio to get a good resize without some obvious stretching/squishing. some of the textures are just beyond help.
all in all, it’s a decent site if you’re in a pinch for a needed texture, as well to get inspiration for building your own or finding an alternative direction to go in.
Thanks, added this to my list of resources
