Texture (visble) that you can walk through but not fall?HELP

Is it possible to have a texture (on a square brush) that you can walk through in all directions BUT Down

e.g.

|_| < block
you can go though it > < /\ but not /

is this possible? :???: if so please tell me!

Hi!
I would make the “texture” walkthru. The entire brush.
Then just add an invisible so called Clip brush underneath it. Players can walk on it, shoot thru it but not fall thru it.

All directions?, including upwards? I do not understand. Walk upwards? You mean like jump? That would be possible in my example. The entire brush will be non-solid. Free movement inside.

Tell us a little more about your ideas/plans? Maybe we can help you more. Is it a special effect for a trickjump map? A secret room in a map for competitive play?

Sorry yes, jump through… i think that would work thanks :slight_smile:
but not clip, no, but no drop migth work, thanks :slight_smile:

and as for my plans :slight_smile: well i dont want to explain coz my idea might be stolen :frowning:
If i exlpained why i wanted this, i would have to explain my whole map which would be stolen :frowning: but thanks, and youll find out when i beta-release my map :slight_smile:

? uh? the no-drop did nothing! i just fell through it :S i made it 1 thick and then 32 thick, and it stil did nothing :S

loffy told you to use CLIP texture, not NODROP… i dunno where you got that from, but nodrop is that no weapons are dropped when you die on it (i think)

but i dont know if that what loffy said is what you are looking for… im also looking for a similar effect… i want a brush to be solid on only one side.

|__| only solid when you hit the brush from the red side, so you can go ALL THE WAY thru the brush if you come from up, down or left, but if you come from the right you are blocked…

i dunno how to do it… texturing only 1 face with clip didnt work, made the whole brush solid

^^ For that you could if you want use a tleporter one side only, and that would nearly work (would be noticble though) or a one way door that opens when you touch it from that side!

and as forno-drop, oh yeah! wierd i always thought is was no dropping through!

Make you brush completely non-solid and put a a square patch at the right side. That way you should be able to get out to the right side, but not in.

arg! nooo if it hit it from the edge i still get stuck… but thanks anyway! can anone help fix this? please?

on the patch if you hit it in that / directection its ok /\ go through >or< collide :frowning:
i just need to fix the < and the > now, can anyone help?

What have you made exactly? Maybe post a little screenshot of the region in a seperate test map? (So you don’t reveal the rest of your map)

basicly when you hit a side | or | you stop (bad) when you hit from bottom _ you keep going! (good) when you hit from top – you stop (good) but…
(shortened)
> = Stop
< = Stop
/ = Stop
/\ = Non-Stop

It SHOULD be
> = Non-Stop
< = Non-Stop
/ = STOP
/\ = Non-stop

It might be that you box is not high enough, so that the player just hits the top patch. Tried crouching or proning into it?

sorry, but it has to be the height it is, isht there a way i can ONLY NOT fall so it will ONLY stop me if i FALL and wont matter if i touch sides?
this is my problem, please help
