Texture Blending - Need Help

(aburn) #1

Hi…
As reading through all those tons of forum threads and tutorials which I found thx to google… I thought well ET mapping here is dead… the threads were from 2003 or something… than I encountered the rest of the site and god bless you all ET mapping is not dead…

Now I have such a question…

Can u blend textures in a different way than a height map blending…

I read an article about texture blending but it was generally Q3 texture blending and there I saw a really trumendous thing that I can decide where the blend line should go…

Never did it tho… and I seek sum knowledge here… :bump:

Edit #1
Changed topic… cause this is more a help request…

Hi there aburn,

ET is still very much alive (At least I hope as I’m still working on a ET map  )

Anyway, you’re talking about blending textures, I asume you mean blending terrain textures, If so do a search on “alpha AND blending”. There are alot of topics about this one to keep you occupied

yeah… thats what I looked for…

That was what I read befor… and thanks to this u dont only make terrain but u blend textures…

i just was scared that I would see use easygen… hate that lil bastard…
Comes usefull from time to time… but I dont like it too much…

Try FATE then: http://splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=13332

this is one that I love…

FATE owns.

Now I have a question to that article of socks… bout blending textures… I tryed to compile the exemple map and it doesn’t get blended at all… and those alpha markers come out untextured… with yellow box… does it a problem with the compiler (I prolly need the new q3map2) or maybe I messed up something and try do make something work in ET that is not ment to work there… ???

You are probably are using an old version of Q3Map2.
Compile with GTKRadiant 1.5 or search for the mirrored version of the latest/last Q3Map2 build.

(aburn) #8

Rad1.5 is good…
will seek for it and use it… I have the newest q3map2 but IDK how to run it to compile maps properly… prolly in the command line dont have time for that…
Will look in Rad1.5 hope it will wokr properly…

You could install the newest Q3Map2 and use a tool like Q3Map2Build if you don’t know how to run it.

See:
