Testing etpro-mapscripts with a local server

(nUllSkillZ) #1

Assuming ET-Pro is installed in the “etpro”-directory.

[ul]
[li]create a safety copy of “etmain/server.cfg”
[/li][li]copy “etpro/example.cfg” to “etmain/server.cfg”
[/li][li]edit the new “etmain/server.cfg”:
[/li]change

set b_mapscriptdirectory ""

to

set b_mapscriptdirectory "etpromapscripts"

[li]put the etpromapscript into the “etpro/etpromapscripts”-directory
[/li][li]start etpro (windows shortcut: +set fs_game etpro)
[/li][li]select “Host Game”
[/li][li]choose your map (don’t put in a PW)
[/li][li]start the game
[/li][/ul]

I just had a look this afternoon with ASE to see what kind of mods are being played on all the ET servers (3419 servers when I tested it) : here’s the result…

ETmain : 164
Shrub : 29
ETPro : 2095
ETPub : 554
ETF : 20
TCE : 170
Omnibot : 55
JayMod : 240
Other mods : 92

And the winner is (…drumroll…) EtPro. I think that many mappers are unaware of the fact that their map will probably be played on etpro servers instead of the vanilla etmain…

(I don’t know if bani fixed this, but) therfor it is important that if you made custom command map icons to add a etpro-shader version of them!

etpromapscripts aren’t working as expected with a local server.
All the changes that are added with “create” (not sure about “set”) only appear in warmup at the first start of the local server.
So please don’t use this method.
Or set the warmup time very high.
Sorry for that.

Edit:

Highest possible warmup time selectable through menu: 99 sec.

And what if you create an etpro server locally which is dedicated, then start a second ET installation that connects do your dedicated version through the internet and server browser? I tested my maps that way to actually simulate a server and connecting to it etc.
