What have happened with my terrain here?

The ‘blending’ is not working at this location…it looks ok everywhere else.
(I only use two different textures for the terrain )
Most importantly, how can I fix this?

Misery loves company :moo:
Thanks for the link…but did you ever find a solution to the problem?
I will try experimenting with some of the things mentioned later today.

Nope. Changing things did change which triangles were affected, but none of it got rid of the problem. Using an older version of q3map2 also worked, but those don’t support ET.
I haven’t tried 2.5.8 yet, but he doesn’t mention anything about that in the changelog.
Is that an EasyGen terrain? I had a similar problem with my terrain. I had to work on the alphamap to get is to blend in certain regions.
I had to edit my alphamap to solve this problem. Had to make that part of the alphamap monochrome. It does not look the way I wanted it to but at least it looks less ugly now.

Gensurf here as well. However, that shouldn’t make any difference. It all becomes textured brushes before q3map does it’s work. Unless the brushes are borked somehow.
When you say you edited your alphamap, what did you do ? Just make the problem area a solid color ? I found that the problem area moved around as I made different variations of the map, so that seems like a troublesome solution.
Note that you get a similar effect if you have 3 textures that meet, since there is no way to have a 3 way blend in your metashader. leifhv obviously didn’t have this problem, since he only used 2 textures.
At the time I had my problem, I did not kwow about blending three surfaces… Maybe it was the problem, but I thought it occurred in areas just with two different textures
It was ‘easy’ in Easygen. Once you place ‘textures’ in Easygen problem triangles show up as black triangle. So, I modified my alphamap (changed the color of the triangles in Easygen) until the black triangles disappeared. Most of the time I’d ‘push’ a black triangle towards another one. When they met, they merged and disappeared.
I know this doesn’t help you at all. Sorry
Yep, I just made the problem area a solid color…I’ve had a quick look around to see if the problem area had moved but haven’t found anything yet.
Anyway, I can’t live with this solution so I’m going to do some more testing…making small changes to the alphamap and see what happens.
