I’ve always done and have always seen it done the way you showed in your video. People do jumps pretty differently I’ve noticed. Hell, I’ve seen videos on that first jump on the window as attacker on trainyard be incredibly convoluted when all you have to do is press crouch. Same with a couple useful jumps on Chapel.

truth is, there is no “alchemy” in trickjumps. Actually, they are quite easy. The only problem is, some matches are so fast theres not enough time to perfom trickjumps or they are useless in actual combat. But under some good conditions they can be an advantage to know how to and when to perform them.
