Teleport?

(Igloo) #1

Hello,

I had tried to do the teleport by looking into other maps (before I posted here). Impossible for me because something doesn’t work correctly.

I tried to search in SD forums, but this module seems to have problems with working. Check it out, please :wink:

Thanks for answer.

Greetings,
Igloo

What have you tried? I believe it works quite the same as in Q3. All you needed to do on top of that is trigger the teleporter with a button or regular trigger entity.

(Ifurita) #3

The two entities you need are:

/*QUAKED trigger_teleport (.5 .5 .5) ?
Touching this will teleport players to the location of the targeted misc_teleporter_dest entity.
-------- KEYS --------
target : this should point to a misc_teleporter_dest entity.
*/

/*QUAKED misc_teleporter_dest (1 0 0) (-32 -32 -24) (32 32 -16)
Point teleporters at these.
-------- KEYS --------
angle : direction in which player will look when arriving.
targetname : make the trigger_- or target_teleporter point to this.
-------- NOTES --------
now that we don't have teleport destination pads, this is just an info_notnull
*/

If you can find the supplemental entities DEF file, it will have these defined

I saw something else, like trigger_teleported. You didn’t tell me about it, but it was used on a map I have seen :stuck_out_tongue:

I have an error, don’t know exactly what should I do…

Touching this will teleport players to the location of the targeted misc_teleporter_dest entity.

So if player comes on the trigger_teleport, he should be teleported to misc_teleporter_dest as well ^^

Thanks for attention :smiley:

The “misc_teleporter_dest” entity (didn’t know that this is existing) has to be the target of the “trigger_teleport” entity.

Select the “misc_teleporter_dest” entity, press “n”, in the input fields put in:
key: targetname
value: destination

Deselect all, select the “trigger_teleport” entity, press “n”, in the input fields put in:
key: target
value: destination

The problem is I had these before you told me :roll:

Had anyone tested it ever before? :frowning:

I know misc_teleporter and misc_teleporter_dest work. The trigger_teleporter should work too, given how gamma jump maps can do it.

(Igloo) #8

Default, these classnames are not available in Radiant, I don’t know why no one put it inside lol.

Btw I will glad for an example, because I won’t do it fast or even ever… :oops:

I put several of them into a map of mine called Decerto

There is the source file

Thanks a lot for help. It’s good that there are nice people here :wink:

I’ll check this map out asap.

Ehh, I tried but I still don’t know what is wrong. Espacially there’s one invisible brush with trigger_teleport… Ifurita could you make something that will move me from one place to other, simply, no activation needed, please? It would be helpful for rest :smiley: Just a small room…

Igloo

trigger_teleport targeted at a misc_teleporter_dest. What exactly is difficult about that?

(Ifurita) #13

He might not have the the supplemental def file. If you don’t, the game won’t know what to do with the entities

(kamikazee) #14

It’s only the editor going crazy.

Using Google and some URL joggling, I reconstructed the URL to the updated entities thread: NEW ENTITIES FOR ET-BETA2 released. Install instructions are in there.

Now let’s all hope that Arnout can get the search function’s indexing in order. (Or better, when it’ll be possible without lagging the forum.)

(Igloo) #15

Yeah, I knew that something is missing.

I’ll install and all must be fine ^^ :wink:

The updated .ENT file for Radiant 1.5 is just as good if not better than an updated 1.4 .def. (this is just in case you favor 1.5 over 1.4)

Radiant 1.5 updated .ENT file: http://www.spyjuice.com/radiant/ET_ent_v1_radiant_1_5.zip

(kamikazee) #17

Of course, if you’re using GTKRadiant 1.5. (Or is the 1.4 alternative supplied as well?)

Anyway, I’d certainly vote for 1.5, I’m now tagging Doom 3’s textures for testing purpouses.

(EB) #18

That is just the 1.5 .ENT file with a few extra things. …it would be nice to have a more-complete .def file for 1.4 but I do not see the sense in writing it at this point. Sad to say that BTW. …maybe I will write it someday, if someone else doesn’t get to it first. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Igloo) #19

Btw if I want to add an explosive barrel (yeah, not recommended by SD staff) I have to also copy the models, textures true? I played on my friends server and he hadn’t it… explosion, but nothing visible.

Is the same situation with meal to eat? In .pk3 I have downloaded to et I saw it is possible, but someone could doesn’t have it and won’t see anything? :wink:

Igloo

Indeed, the models were never added to W:ET. So, you could include them in your pk3 or simply leave them out. The latter is actually the best as those entities are only suitable for SP.
