Teammate repair/defusing

(theBCL) #1

Can it just say stop defusing or repairing if someone with better tools is found it faster. I think some people see teammate repair and think it stacks.
On to another asshat idea do or can some mercs have better capture point rate. Idk who should get bonus maybe the murders. Enginers medics and already get big points and wildcards gets to turn the dumb ideas into an ace every once in a while.
I am being totally selfish with these ideas because with this game even when I’m suckling ass I still feel like I’m about to get a gold medal. Weed helps a lot.

Isn’t “Another Teammate Repairing” and “Faster Teammate Repairing” not understandable enough?

Not sure about capture point rate though

it seems SD has to make it that you cant interact if your friend already repairing. to make them understand better, MAYNDAYTOREE TOOTHOREEYAL

It is? welp, I don’t know about this (since I always try not to repair/defuse-stacking on my gameplay)

I should test it sometime

(aminuseternal) #5

What about making it so you do not switch to the pliers/blowtorch and your weapon stays up while someone else is reparing?

(Madonna_) #6

Agree with @aminuseternal newbies are still tricked by the fact that when they interact with an obj their weapon falls down and it seems that they are contributing at doing the job, they should stay with their gun remaining still to avoid that misunderstand, even after the update text change i had to stop reparing and cover the other guys who come to repair alonside with me, to minimize the wasted time

Some people are just idiots.

I had a rage the other day because in game using Bushwhacker and defusing, I died because a team mate Fragger tried to stack defuse with me instead of cover me.

He was level 25.

Yes, a level 25 who genuinely believed stacking was a thing.

“Why didn’t you cover him?” “I help dox defuse faster”

This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. I still see lvl20+ players helping up teammates with <3s left on spawn timer. Dude, you are wasting your time AND if that teammate spawns normally he can be in the same spot in no time with full HP. Those are the same people that do not tap out when the roles are reversed.

SD’s inability to appropriately signal to players that stacking is not a thing is legendary at this point. Hide the progress bar, “CAN’T REPAIR, COVER YOUR TEAMMATES” or something similar. In huge red font. Done. It doesn’t even require any new animation work. It’s just UI.

That would be fine only until we end up with nobody being able to repair as the game wrongfully thinks somebody is doing so already. The message might get ignored but at least it doesn’t break anything.

That’s highly unlikely.

(HunterAssassin5) #11

just dont let them press F. dont even change the UI, just turn off the ability for anyone else to press F when someone else already did.

Judging on how often a vote, even one such as kicking a AFK player fails…people don’t pay much attention to anything other than their reticle when it is aimed at a target.

do…
do we need to make tutorial about kicking people and voting?

my god…

(bontsa) #14

@The_N00B had pretty simple and solid idea of how to implement voting part of (hopefully soon mandatory or highly incenticised) tutorial; split tutorial in 2 parts where after 1st most crucial part game asks through vote if one wants to continue, or possibly allow to continue straight up to Assault course through the vote.

E: Hold on no, I recall original idea being a vote at start of tutorial asking if person wants to take on WASD part that was originally in or something like that. Well, still there are a few ways if going with it but doesnt seem too much of a hassle nor handholding, taken how bloody unintuitive the HUD element for voting is.

(kopyright) #15

You really should read some past patch notes.

(The_N00Ba) #16

either way would have worked bontsa, as long as the habit of voting is passed on to players.

(BrazenXXGold) #17

I found that this problem happens in many other games, people can see you on the objective but still go to try and do it as well…its as though in their minds they believe they can finish it before you and get the xp or the capture.

(The_N00Ba) #18

Sometimes i honestly just stop repairing right before we finish just so they get the exp. not like I really need it any way…

(ClemClem7) #19

If the gun remain when they press F they will think it’s broken and they will say the game is bugged.

It must be an all new animation, of the pliers being ejected off the EV, like when you get shocked by electricity.
Then noobs will see that they tried doing it but the game didn’t allow them to do it.

In my opinion, no.

“Faster teammate repairing” might make a newbie think “great, I’m speeding up the repair process” while he’s not. About “another teammate repairing”, I guess it’s a bit more understandable, but I know a lot of people that actually wouldn’t understand anything. We’re talking about new people here, so I think we have to show the context. “Teammate repairing : cover him” would be clear enough to imply that X is not repairing anything I think, and would also hint a newbie about the right thing to do when someone is working on the objective.
