Team Deathmatch and Co-op Holdout?

(yakcyll) #1

After some digging through localization files, sparked by a thread on Steam forums, one can find a ton of interesting tidbits about what’s coming to the game (e.g. a button was/is planned to reduce scope sway and there will be constructables on maps). Regardless of those (there’s a thread on DB Steam forums about it and you can look it up on your own by browsing through the files), there are two quite important things I would like to hear your opinion on, mainly that:

Team Deathmatch and potentially a co-op MvM-like mode are coming to Dirty Bomb.

What do you think? Are you excited?

no.

Don’t read too much into this, game files tend to include tons of cruft which might have been tested at one point or another or leftovers from frameworks.

or native to UE3

Deathmatch should only be in Warmup mode. Don’t want to split the community into too many matchmaking brackets.

Here’s an idea… give players the option to purchase vanity cheats that can only be activated in Warmup mode. One of them could be a “Deathmatch announcer” which announces killing sprees.
Could also have cheats for extra gibs.
Again, they would only be possible to use in Warm-up mode. And they would be expensive enough that the activation would be relatively rare.

Sounds like those items would be as popular as the music packs in CS:GO aka a complete waste of effort by the devs.

You can’t tell me that SD would leave in leftovers of UE3 in SHOOTERGAME. Kappa

I don’t find myself in the versus of DB, but I must admit the idea of a mvm-like mode in co-op is catchy. Thing is I never heard about SD working on AI for DB, and also if this gonna be just “waves of ennemies”, it’ll be boring in no time. TF2 has 9 classes, hundreds of weapons (and loadouts combos), and the upgradeshop thingy between waves, which altogether makes mvm enjoyable more longer than what we’d expect from such mode. If DB sticks to the rotation system, and the “few” loadouts possibilities, such mvm mode will be quickly repetitiv and uninteresting with so poor team matchups.

The other possibility for co-op mode is the Warface model : small group of players make their way through a map and objectives from A to B while they encounter ennemies on their way. This need to rework maps a bit, so…

I guess co-op isn’t coming and if it does, it’d totally surprise me. Isn’t there tracks of a Domination mode or alike (more like UT domination) also?

can’t see Splash doing AI/bots for DB, I think single player stuff makes Paul say bad words
