Team Colors (w/ photoshop and puppies)

Anti, I have a question. In your talks at SD HQ, can I buy a skin to change how enemies look or just how I look? This might sound like a dumb question until you consider that I STILL often mistake enemies as friendly with the current/default skins so I would 100% shell out cash to make enemies more noticeable. With the current skins I am less likely consider buying skins because I personally have trouble differentiating friend from foe. I guess one way to look at this is that I am LESS likely to buy a skin that makes me harder to see because I already think the current skins are good at confusing the enemy.

got too agree, you change the art too much you change the feel. i didnt find this an issue while playing

There is a small problem with that. Skins want also be shown. It is, i would say, 60%. The other 40% are just you and the will to be locally/subjectively satisfied with your new skins.

It would therefore totally kill the skin system, if others have the option to ‘turn you off’.’

Hmmm imagine the future server rules. Stock skins/ weapons or get banned.

the OPs pic is all very nice but unfortunately i have yet to get an enemy to stand still so i can look over his uniform then shoot him.
Try those colours at distance and moving while along side an enemy and see if you can pick them out.

If SD dont create separate identifiable teams with their own individual theme. ie army v civilian then its Pay-To-Win.
Because buying a skin in its current form would gain an advantage. the advantage being that it wont be clear which side he is on even more so than now because he’s new. Without a clear ID it willl confuse.

And just one more example last night rushed left on waterloo through buildings with another team mate. we appeared at the top were there was some enemies bit of confusion as we rushed as there was artil, jumped up when near enemy no-one realised i was their enemy as i walked right past 2 medics, and went and planted and i wasnt a ghost.

If SD want this system because it can make money then they are mistaken because of a couple of reasons.

  1. a character that can be used by both sides is a devalued assett and a player would care less for that than they would for a seperate team models.
2 seperate team styles/themes would increase income for skin sales simply because thats double the skins a player needs or can acquire.

if one team were cavemen lets say. a new character skin could be any shape etc but we can still see hes a caveman, maybe skinnier arms and a skinnier club but his fur skirt and club give him up.

as it is you buy a new character he’s neither good nor bad, no flag, no story. hes also used by the other team. he’s all of a sudden less valuable to a buyer than the caveman.

put the two together on a shelf and tell me which you want to buy.

il just say that i come from a background of selling. so thats where i’m coming from. so i thought i’d throw that in there.

Try those colours at distance and moving while along side an enemy and see if you can pick them out.

Especially in the different atmospheres and lighting this becomes more muddled.

Yeah that’s why I don’t mind the subtle colour differences and that’s also why team-specific models aren’t really an option either.

But that also means we need a really strong indicator on top of your team-members. Because right now there’s still seconds of doubt sometimes where you’re holding your fire because you’re not entirely sure who you’re shooting at. They’ve become substantially less but they should be gone altogether.

People mainly want to show off against their enemies. That’s why a high potential diversity in looks (and thus no prominent team colours) is more important on enemy players than on team-members.

How about a fine silhouette or aura around your team-mates? It could even be optional. As long as you can fire with certainty on those who don’t have it.

-shoulder patch should be the first thing to be changed  at the moment is black and the emergency medical symbol is also black

  • and the glasses and the gloves, the medic is a batelfield doctor, not in a hospital, so the white latex gloves are somehow not in place
