Team Balancing.

(Amerika) #21

That and SD has specifically stated they don’t want to do balance during the game, even during the warmup period, because some people have picked their weapons/loadouts for a side. However, I’ve questioned that multiple times because it doesn’t make sense for Stopwatch matches. But that was their reasoning (I’ve asked many times and gotten that same answer every time).

Personally, I don’t think you should shuffle teams during play. But I think teams should definitely be shuffled during warmup and not at the start of the lobby when everyone leaves. I also think that the hidden last 10 game public server ELO should be used when new people join instead of always joining Attackers first if there is an even number of players on both sides. Those two things won’t fix all the problems but it will help quite a few of them.

my suggestions

  1. all game shoult start with even players. 1 v 1, 2 v 2 or 3 vs 3 , etc but only when all press a ready buttom like F6, and no one should enter or leave (give a penalty) after game started.

  2. balance should be according skills (medals, silver 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, gold 1, 2, 3, etc.) and not level. A level 5 player could plays much better than a level 15 player no matter how long players play, they skills have a top roof.

Matches aren’t balanced by level in either public or ranked MM. Public matches are autobalanced at the start of a new lobby and it’s based on your performance in the last 10 matches. Ranked MM is balanced based on your hidden ELO rating. Also, if the game didn’t start until everyone hit F6 then some people would troll and not hit F6, be oblivious, take a phone call etc.

(Zenious) #24

if that is the case then there needs to be some kind of deterrent to leaving a match early or you will just have the problem of 3v1 or 5v2 and other unfair advantage games ruining a majority of players experiences with the game which could be detrimental to the community as people will get sick of always being stomped in stupidly unfair matches.

While the Auto-balance system would annoy at times it would do more on the positive side for the game as a whole in my honest opinion.

then, give more time for the game to start, but when start no more people should join, another option is that you can lock teams with a vote system, if teams are locked noone can join.

Yeah…and all of my experiences are from stopwatch…because that’s all I ever do anymore…I haven’t played objective mode in weeks…don’t even bother for the free 500 credits…I probably should though.

Guys, on a serious note. What if i want to play with a friend together? We need some actual teams if you want to auto shuffle teams before the match based on their stats.

(virtoc) #28

I have been playing for 6 months now and reached level 29, some of the friends I play with are 20+ and 30+ we are average players we all played since the closed beta. There is no special server after +10 level and I don’t think they would be any point making some but the thing is that people easily get mad at you when they see your level while all experimented players know level does not mean skill…

Here is my question then:

What is the point of showing levels in game on the score table? Especially if balance is based on last 10 matches score.

I feel like it just up set people who can’t get them way to the victory, those will either blame them team or the one guy with high level on the opposite team to explain them loss. I played Wolf ET since 2005 and for over 5 years , I was even still playing sometimes before I started DB and I can’t remember people being such d***s on chat because of other players being a challenge. (Always were the SK, Panza, Rnade whiners but that was part of the game)

I really feel like level difference showed to everyone only make people even madder whenever they can be while them being hidden until the end of the map or hidden permanently to other players could be a solution to have sweeter game through chat…

Or am I just becoming an old fart by not standing the prepubertal gamers anymore and should just live with it? :dizzy:

Levels in or out then?

Thanks for reading.

Having a friend who is level 42, I pretty much know the struggle. At this point, someone suggested the ability to hide your in game level in another thread. I think that option is far from being a bad idea.

This said, I have nothing against adding more kind of servers like “level 20+ servers”, or things like that.

(Ghosthree3) #30

The whole shuffle vote is flawed. It seems to shuffle skill based on the current scores, if the game is brand new it will just be a true random shuffle because no one has a significant score or they have outlier ones. If the game is not new and people have had time to get a score that represents their impact on the game then they have a good chance of being moved to the team they themselves worked hard to impact, uncool.

This is just how pub is going to be forever, because the only truly fair way balancing can occur is through match making.

There is no *positive point to showing account level to everyone. It’s nothing but a sore point for myself (about to hit 45) and worse for others (Hardup who is almost 70).

I would like it hidden or have the option to hide it. That would reduce the amount of saltiness on public servers. I would like to see SD bring back Mercenary levels but put them at a max of 10 and make that not too hard to get to. That would show that you have at least X amount of hours of play on a level 10 merc but you don’t get ridiculed because you are like level 20+. Tie in some goodies for leveling mercs (cases, achievements when they are added etc.) and it’s a win/win for everyone.

No way.

Do i need to recall 70% of normal(with teamwork) matches played by me?

As a medic,i like to hurt people(and heal but mainly hurt).

(MarsRover) #33

@Amerika - I came here to write exactly that. I agree 100%

I’m only lvl 18 but there are many matches where I have the highest level, there are even some where I’m the only 10+ player. I’m starting to get performance anxiety

I had a hard time last night. I was planning Underground when suddenly I am getting mauled. Defenders are hitting me three at time (they are all over level 12). The teams are 5 to 6, but we have one player AFK. We vote to kick our AFK, but now we are 4 to 6. I ask somebody to switch to our team, but I get ignored. The Defenders end up spawn fragging us. Nobody wants to switch to a team that’s getting hammered.

(D'@athi) #35

Got to the point, I am actively ignoring all this level-talk. Most of them are obvious just attentionwhoring kindergarden-kids, trying to get a reaction, whatever.

And balancing? You are sure there is balancing in place on pubs? Not simply some random team-mixing?
That at least is my opinion after seeing what happens playing with my mates (lvls 18-40). Yes sometimes (by chance?) it’s even kinda balanced, but stuffing us three or four into one team vs. some beginners shouldn’t happen at all if something like a balancing was in place? At least the levels should be mixed, if the routines for calculating some skill-lvls isn’t ready.

But ok, I am good with it. Just takes a few rounds playing with the average zombies in my team to feel teams where we stack and overrun the enemy are much better than to fall into despair because of the average aura/skyhammer-problem. At least for now. All praise the on ore two weeks the lvl10-servers were kinda working.
