Team balance issues
I got a slight feel that Objective and SW matchmaking is based on Lvl. Had too many matches where it was like:
[high lvls + low lvls] vs [average lvls]

But this matchmaking wont work. I hope it was just a feel and not a fact.
well typically, the really high level players (30+) are likely competitive players who know a lot more about the game, whilst having really good aim, etc.

Your skill won’t raise like your level does. The matchmaking thinks that a lvl10 player is as good as 2 lvl5 players. But its totally wrong.

This weekend was double credit weekend. I got a 1K objective of win 2 stopwatch matches. 10-15 matches later, I honestly HATE this game. You would think by luck I would win about 50% of the games, maybe 25% if I was really unlucky. I won 1 game in 3 hours of constant play. It was just ridiculous. I seem to be stuck in this constant cycle of can’t make money because you can’t win games, can’t get upgrades because you don’t have money, constantly get ganked by people with better gear. Something is wrong with matchmaking in this game. I don’t know what to do about it, but a successful game is going to require people to feel it is “fair”.

I see a lot of servers that have a level restriction of 5, we should have a lot more of the servers that only allow people under level 10, level 15 and so on. We should have servers that only allow players below a certain level limit, allowing players to be matched up with other players similar in skill. We need servers like Max Level 5, 10, 15, and 20. This would greatly help balance matchmaking in this game.

I never thought of it that way. I guess the other fact that it would be nice to have some form of “pro vs. not-pro” by split. I see people playing in pubs who are level 15 and getting 16K scores in the end while steamrolling the other team. I’ve gotten tired and went into spectator mode to watch them and many of them are amazing. I’ll never be that good. The awful fact is though is that most of them have the most sociopathic personalities you would ever meet. I watched one guy spawn camp one player mercilessly with a Phantom just to drive him off the server. It was really sad. Maybe they need to make the rewards better in competitive so those types gravitate more towards there. I would be much happier playing with people who are closer to my skill level even if it meant I wasn’t getting much. I play TF2 all the time and it isn’t like I’m getting anything for that (It’s the same junk over and over)

I was just in a match that summed this up perfectly. I was on the winning side and there was a level 25 and a level 19. In terminal we blew the wall and I ran through as soon as I could and before I made it to the opening in the other wall the “announcer” said that C4 was on objective. Running straight there I made it to the railcar to kill a bushwacker disarming before they both blew. Level 25: 5K points, Level 19: 3K points, everyone else, below 1K. The match was over in a little over 2 minutes. The other team didn’t have anyone above level 7. Why the level 25 and 19 would be on the same team much less the same server seems odd.

There is also a lot of hight lvl players that tend to deliberately stack between them in casual games (some of them are well knowed). They prefer easy pubstomp than a nice and close game. The worst I saw was lvl 50+45 +25+20 against a team below lvl 10, in a casual Stopwatch.

I already asked kindly to stacked groups to shuffle for the sake of better games: no response most of the time, or you get a nice ‘k’ like ‘we dont care’ . The only thing they say is '‘GG’ in the end, for the finishing blow I guess.

This is not just a DB problem, you see this in basically all video games. In Tribes Ascend you could see a full ‘pro’ team stack in a casual pub game. Its pretty impossible to fix human behavior.
Forcing a team reshuffle could work, but a lot of players will be against this.

That happened to me the other day. 8v8 server playing Stopwatch Bridge, the lowest level Defender was 38. All eight Defenders were Gold rank, as was the Level 40 on our (Attacker) team. I was the next highest level (6 at the time) on Attacker. None of us ever set foot outside the spawn.

To add insult to injury, I was the only one trying to help our Level 40 Rhino push out because I was the Sawbonez shadowing him. I figured I’d practice my Medic skills and watch what he does to better learn how to play. Then he up and remarks “if my team weren’t a bunch of autistic children, maybe we could have done something”. I quit the server five seconds later. If that insult is what I get for trying to play the sodding game…

When when?
Soon?

We’ve been working on it and testing it internally so fingers crossed

That was from December 2014

Is this thing implemented yet? If so it needs a lot of tuning. It’s bad to the point of being broken from what I experienced last night.
