team "balance" is crap and the main reason I don't play Dirty Bomb more

(LifeupOmega) #41

Stopwatch and Execution aren’t real challenges though, I don’t know why you think that. They’re still filled with terrible players with terrible coordination and terrible gamesense.

Hell, Stopwatch just means I have to play twice as long with terrible people who’ll probably ragequit in the second half until juan.peterson1998’s voteshuffle finally goes through.

And Execution? Nice joke. It’s a shit game mode and I didn’t come to Dirty Bomb for Counter Strike minus any depth Counter Strike has.

DB in game community is a joke. It’s no the worst one but what I experienced in games was just plain ridiculous.

I mean experienced clear comp players and 20+ level players joining the winning team or just going havoc on total noob teams (plus maybe one experienced player) on their spawn. Especially on Terminal and Chapel.

Can’t count the time I changed sides during the matches to help the attackers on Chapel or just being amazed how some thought it’s bad to shuffle or it’s great to yell “git gud” or whatever when they spawnrape 1-10 level dudes.
Just fucking awful.

And then some dumbfuck comes to tell that they have problems when somebody have commented about their level.
“Oh MY GOD! he commented my level!”
-ok, no shuffle or balancing teams I just go full retard and spawnrape them.
I*m superb pubstomper and I enjoy stupid players!
Fucking idiots.

Yes, the noobs will learn NOT to play on their spawn or the match isn’t balanced. It is simple as that. And then the same experienced guys are complaining when there are only noobs or why people don’t play competitive or just get miraculously good overnight.

Ok, I’m back, let’s go back to spawnrape them and let’s find any way to troll them. Rhinos, Naders and Phantoms first!

It’s no wonder this game never had real chance. Because the more experienced players’ attitudes suck balls.

And yes I’m salty, third match I play trying whether anything changed (bursts are still op as fuck btw) I’m put into Chapel team of defenders against noobs who start to leave. I mean we have team of 60+ level 20, 30 40 level dudes against hardly over 12 level guy and total scrubs. I change sides to help them and somehow miraculously proxy repairs the ev while I protect. What others do? Continut to rape them and now also me. I get molly to my face in every freaking turn or flashed or sniped.
I mean…could somebody explain what any level 20+ guys gets out of match like that?
Hard on?
It’s not challenging even for aiming practice, the result is sure etc. so what’s the point?

(Herr_Hanz) #43

the fun of having more targets per spawn wave, more targets = more kills in quick succesion = better montage clips.

although sometimes i wonder when the enemy and teammates are so stupid that i think “Worth?”

But levels really don’t matter, the experience that they poorly represent does but only in the sense of newbies being at a disadvantage only because they don’t know how to play yet.
By the time you’re mid 20s you could have unlocked all of the mercs and bought or traded for the best loadout card, which you’re probably aware of because you’ve had the experience playing the game.

Before level 10 most players have maybe 5-6 mercs including the free rotation, and they’re probably going to play one of the free rotations to see what a new merc is like. This means they probably don’t know how to play that merc, they probably don’t know how to play to win, and they’re going to hang back afraid of dying to the detriment of their team.

Puh-lease
Im lvl 36 and still havent gotten Bushy or the walking and talking hippo who makes me drink bleach (aka rhino but ill never unlock him)

Didn’t unlock him either. I am waiting for Turtle with 150k credits in my bank
isnt that why you usually go to stopwatch or execution after like level 12 to get a real challenge not playing the pub game type. still i get where your coming from and yes it bites but theres not enough player base at this point to work that in 24/7 after all late night for usa most servers are dead and when USA prime time hits it is flooded.
The game is fundamentally broken for balancing teams, and changing game mode makes no difference.

At the very least, when you have half a dozen high level players, Dirty Bomb should alternate the teams they’re put on when you “shuffle” between maps. It’s unacceptable and detrimental to gameplay that situations like the one in the screenshot occur at all, much less as often as it does. This wasn’t a case of attrition, just horrible programming.

I would love to play on min level 10 servers more, but I’m lucky to see even one in the browser in US East/West Objective that isn’t empty (or full).

(doxjq) #47

MM can’t come soon enough tbh. As much as I hated the idea, 7v7 and 8v8 just make it even harder to carry potatoes if you’re solo queue, so pub is cancer atm.

Need 6v6 back, the sooner the better.

(kopyright) #48

If levels don’t matter why do I never see a low level team stomping a high level team?

(Szakalot) #49

@kopyright its a fair point, but balancing around lvls is a disaster. generally speaking, anything above lvl20 is up in the air

(doxjq) #50

I see it all the time tbh

(blonk) #51

10 PRINT “balanced is fucked one team has high levels other has all low levels”
20 PRINT “levels don’t matter 'cus skill innit”
30 PRINT “levels do matter 'cus experience innit”
40 PRINT “casual mm will fix everything”
50 PRINT “casual mm will fuck everything”
60 PRINT “game sucks GG”
70 GOTO 10
END

RUN

(Kakutov) #52

I told you that hiding levels won’t Help and you were laughing at me. Not to mention tons of disagrees.

(PlatinumCLAW) #53

Team balancing can be done by the squad each player has, so that each team gets a healthy mixture of medics, engineers and assault etc. Preferably the most used squad merc, or the overall squad itself, its just an idea which may work.

(Amerika) #54

@Kakutov I really hate to rain on your “I told you so” parade but levels were not hidden. They were only removed from the lobby and not from the game score screen so people can still see everyone else’s level when on server.

They will be fully removed when casual matchmaking makes it into the game.

(Teflon Love) #55

In my experience DB is fairly decent on min 10 or 20 servers and sadly unplayable on free for all servers. I basically agree with @Dox assessment that “Idiots are the problem” though I’d phrase it differently and add that DB could make it easier for new players to get into (while keeping it “hard to master”).

There are so many things that are obviously stupid to an experienced play but not so much to a new player. Multiple players repairing an EV, (most of the time) reviving another player without being a medic, not giving body cover to a defuser, playing Vasilli without knowing the map etc etc.

When SD actually makes an attempt to make the game easier to learn, things do improve. Case in point: they added the assault course tutorial with an emphasis on throwing ammo packages. In my experience low level Skyhammers are now much better at dropping ammo and the current global steam achievments seem to confirm this. Of those players that reach level 2, 72% delivered a round of ammo to a team mate, which is more than players that reach level 5 (61%). So now there’s a good chance that a level 5 Skyhammer drops ammo.

Currently only 10% of players that reach level 2 make it to level 10, which is a shame because they miss out on the part where the game starts to become fun as most of the “idiots” became decent players. And it only gets better on min 20 servers, where even the Proxies know what they are doing.

(Szakalot) #56

@teflonlove nice post

i would argue that even on minlvl10-20 servers most of the players are a bit poor. im not trying to be snobby: they usually have the aim and general reaction times to enemies, but the vast majority has no clue how to assess the battlefield (where is the frontline), when to push, when to defend, how to spawncamp properly, when to runaway, when to kill and when to go for a plant/defuse etc.

Id wager that the majority of the ff-on comp scene still easily stomps through lvl20 servers, with the exception of friday night - when enough comp players go pubbing to make it challenging for each other

(Teflon Love) #57

@Szakalot: True, the min server matches are still far from perfect, but if a decent engi and medic take the lead for the timing, most players are able to follow and contribute in a meaningful way. Which is much betters then the popular mad chicken TDM chaos on free for all servers.

The comp scene certainly works on a totally different level which many player (including me) never aim to achieve because it kinda takes the fun out. Or as one of the CS community maps designer’s once put it: “(competitive players) don’t even play maps; they practice maps” (quote from a GCD talk at 17:48).

Nevertheless I found it very helpful to read things like litego’s shooter guide.

(AlphaUT) #58

Can people read the announcement? And if u want a better balance, go play min 10, I guess that’s an easy way to do than join a random normal pub game.

(BerylRdm) #59

@Szakalot @teflonlove
You guys forget that in pubs people just want to have fun. So even a good player may look like an idiot, messing around with melee-only phantom, just because he feels like playing it this way.

(SweetGenocide) #60

You know what? Sometimes i also get pissed off when i’m with lvl 3s or whatever lvls. But i get distracted by doing some shanenigans for example: Running peacefuly around with Sparks ; Do the “Serious Sam” with a fletcher! Try doing anything new! You know what? I’ll maybe go Kukri only Aimee tommorow!
