Tattoo Art

A few questions about the Tattoos:

Will there be a custom tattoo option to make your own, not something too complicated just something like the tattoo maker in Rockband games

Has it been confirmed that tattoos are perminently on your character cuz that was an idea i heard about

Is there a shirtless screenshot of the Dogtag tattoo for the Spec-ops preorder because I’m on the fence about it and The Psyco and how the Dogtag tat looks is affecting my decision

No custom tatoos as far as I know. You would need to transfer a 2MB+ TGA file before starting a match, no go for me.

Plus Bethesda won’t be able to charge us a fortune for a pack of tattoos post-release…thanks for that xbox 360 users.

It’s possible however the concern was someone would draw a cock and the world would stop as a result.

Size shouldn’t be an issue CS and other Source engine games have supported custom tags for a long time and with slower connections.

However to combat both concerns you can give the client an option to see ALL/NONE/FRIENDS ONLY. and that then solves the issues.

Regarding making money selling tats. I think if they’re permanent they’d make more money for Tat removal.

Hehe, Top Gear yesterday when Jeremy was showing the route he’d driven in his Skoda Yeti

Hehe The tattoo that dude put on the other guy’s back whilst Jeremy was driving him over the field in the Range Rover

On topic: I think with the massive diversity of customisation available custom user content is really not required. I’m almost certain that there’d be something there to keep everyone, make that most people (I just remembered where I am lol) happy.

I can’t see tattoos as DLC, clothing on the other hand could be a goldmine, especially with real world logos

(Bagnol) #7

I dunno, there have been what, 1 or 2 successful real world advertising campaigns in major commercial games? Brink is Bethesda’s first foray into multiplayer gaming so I’d expect them to experiment with different ways to make post release revenue from Brink (testing what types of content people will actually pay for, ie map packs etc.), but I highly doubt they’d go straight to trying to get us to make our characters wear Coke or “enter popular clothing brand here” shirts.

The obvious exception to that would be more packs like the pre-order ones for IPs under Beth like Elder Scrolls style glass armor or Strogg armor (not sure if Acti owns the quake IP, just an example). I can definitely see people paying for that.

Tattoos are much easier though, but the Beth IPs apply here too like Oblivion tattoos or Vault Boy even.

Wasn’t it said that once the tattoo’s are chosen, they’re permanent?

Just get the tat on his ass cheek, if youre worried. cough

(Nail) #11

tattoos, once chosen are permanent, that’s why only clothing makes sense for DLC

although, you have 16 characters

(SockDog) #12

But the point was custom content not DLC. I just don’t see the harm in giving people this option, if not a tat then some other small elements.

As for the pictures of the pre-order tats. I’m not sure if there were more after the announcement. Perhaps SD can pass on the message to Bethesda to release some more details and pictures.

(Nail) #13

sorry, I equate custom content to PCs and SDK while equating DLC to consoles

PCs should be allowed to go our merry own way as before in SD games with SDK and custom maps and mods, it would be refreshing if consoles allowed the same freedom, but I think their accountants have a different view

yep.
some tatoos can even make you bullet-proof.
like in blood magic game.
some - just enlarge you ego or boost you stocks trading rates in stock market&etc&etc.
