target_speaker

(Igloo) #1

Hello,

I have a little problem with target_speaker. I want it to be heard no matter if the music is in player’s PVS. But there’s also another question…

I place a speaker in the Cathedral map with a volume equal to 14000. I thought it is enough. But it’s not in fact. Can someone tell me what should I do - many speakers to hear the music in the whole building? I really don’t know the best alternative. The farther from source I am the quieter sound is [ok, but if there is only one speaker for the building it seems to disappear immediately - abnormally? Example if I hide behind the wall].

I hope someone can understand me… I’m having a headache now

to make it global u should use an ambient sound, not a target speaker.
here is a good tutorial for that.

Ok, thanks. I know now what to do.

But with my created .wav from mp3 is a problem… [I used a compressor] the error is the file “has length 0”.

And when I type “play” in the console I can see:

Unsupported format: Unknown
Microsoft PCM format only

Do you know a good programme to convert mp3 -> wav with good compression? Please tell me somebody

Igloo

There’s not much to play with the quality. Make it 16bit 22khz mono. (And format PCM.) You can fix these even with windows recorder etc.

And when you are gonna run into the VO sounds, you also might get “no data chunk” error, it can easily be fixed with “FixWAV”. Note this is when you are doing VO, not speakers.

Ok I did something by your tips [16 kHz enough for me] and works cool!

Thanks.
