tapping out before revive

I always hated that automatic wildly spinning around camera. I hope I can atleast turn it off if it’s implemented. I don’t want anything automatic in a game.

Agree with medic-cam, revive protection and K/D in stats. Medic-cam for no /killing if a medic incomming around, revive protection to make rush with team, incremente team-play skill and K/D revive to compare increasing skill. Greats features to make an intensive and fun war imho

Would be nice if a downed player would animate that he needs help. Playing ET the other day i felt ahh! could do with that.
Some movement to help distinguish between dead and incapped.
Difficult i know because of the rag-dolls.
Maybe a dead player could show as a skeleton.

(Bangtastic) #24

i think its fine. I remember the mechanic of brink and i didnt like to shoot with concussion arrows. It gave me some awkward feeling. a quick button to yell and let the incapped icon blink for once to give visual and audio feedback? Since everybody is spamming vsays i pay no attention to them, i just look where the icons are to revive ppl, i think with the improved minimap there wont be a problem anymore.
+1 for some skeleton, ghost thing.
there also should be a indicator how much time left to revive?

It would be cool if a downed play who calls a medic waves with his hand, like: Hello, im lying over here. Also it would be cool, if a revivable guy has some movement with his legs and arms and a dead player just lys around without any movement.
Med Cam is a nice thing but should only take place when the player is reviveable. When gibbed/dead he can join 1st person spec (clicking mousebutton 1) to spec his teammates or stay at the camera view from the position where he was killed.

XD

Some more combat immunity will do teamplay a world of good - and hopefully allow for more choke points in the maps?

(papa519) #27

ya pretty sure in RTCW when someone needed a revive a needle icon popped up over their body

(iwound) #28

icons are everywhere any other reference we can use will help.
rag dolls have a habit of landing randomly so just an arm wave might not happen.
though some sort of forced limb movement would make the incapped player roll about. a bent leg whether the player was face down or up or on his/her side would work.
When a player is dead then their bodies start to dissolve as the radiation eats away at the flesh giving off the green mist and leaving just the skeleton.

I dont want to rely on icons all the time.

+1

There are already too many icons …

(Bangtastic) #30

Ultimately we should let there free room, and decide the players to go find a incapped one when he knows he is near and is still reviveable and when he well… cant find him, bad luck, simple.

I cant really see the problem with current build. You always exactly know where ppl are incapped, i mean when ppl dont care about to give a rezz… they wont do it even when their dead corpse will jump in their faces. it relies on the behaviour of oneself!

Yeah, it’s pretty cluttered looking at the mo.

(MrFunkyFunk) #32

Indeed quite the mess now (temporary solution is to modify cfg but still not the best imo).
I too prefer animations for the people to be revived instead of icons (and for enemies bodies, to make it easy to see if gibbed or not).

It would also be nice to move some of the obj icons to the minimap to improve overall game visibility on screen.

I still would like to see incapped players on the mini map. Not all the incapped players but the ones who at least called out for a medic.

(Ashog) #34

revive shield is evil and is for noobs.

(Ashog) #35

revive shield is evil and is for noobs actually. But one could sell it for money. 10 bucks - 20 revive shields

(Kl3ppy) #36

So you would spend 1000€ on it

(Breo) #37

It depends… right now when you got revived you don’t have full health + sometimes your facing in the wrong direction of the enemy also you still get the movement slowdown when you get hit from the side?

(papa519) #38

what about putting an icon on the mini map? if your a medic it shows where someone needs to be revived

(Maca) #39

This would require that the minimap be repositioned. Currently it’s really small, in the far left corner, and I personally almost never think about looking at the minimap, because all the info is pushed to the HUD. I think most of the HUD icons should be removed, and the minimap should be made more clear and prominent. Otherwise it’s no use putting things to the minimap, very few will notice them.

(Ashog) #40

why do you wanna have FULL health when just being revived after being owned? You deserve to die and the guy who killed you deserves the kill and its effects (1 less enemy). You still get a slight chance of luck if someone revives you so you could still fulfill obj - so why even complaining that you have been downed again? Got chance, but opponent was still there and wary - you deserve to die again and freaking respawn already

As a compromise, I voted for no shield but higher health upon revive (no full health ofc) - to disallow immediate gibbing and give a short window for a revived player to retaliate after his weapon is reactivated. But there is almost nothing more irritating than trying to rekill the revived guy and only watch at bullets ricocheting away from him with no damage dealt, while you don’t really know when this magical infiltration of invincibility into 21st century would end (unless it’s W:ET with large ugly revive shields depicted above a player). Revive shields are a very cumbersome and unskilled implementation of this immediate protection for the revived - just give em more health!
