Tank won't spawn at the right location

(MCEmperor) #1

Hi all,

I have a testmap (2048x2048, not so big), and I have a tank. The tank will follow a spline, conform the script. It all works. But when I test the map, the tank will drive under the ground like underearth style. I only see the top of the model.

Can anyone help me?

The testmap can be found here;
The testscript can be found here;
I compiled the map with GTK Radiant 1.5.0, using the Q3map2:test compilation. You can download GTK Radiant 1.5.0 (Win32) here.
Linux users can download it somewhere else (I’m not sure, but I guess there is also GTKRadiant for Linux.)

Answers about the tank are welcome!

Your map appears to be 404.

I think it has something to do with the origin of your tank. If you dont have an appropriately located origin brush, then the origin would (i think) default to the origin of the model - which is above the ground.

When the tank is put on a spline, it is the ORIGIN that is put on the spline. Since the origin is half way up the tank, half the tank is underground.

You could either add/adjust the origin of the tank, or just move all the splines up in the air a bit to compensate (lazy, not as good solution).

Sorry, just putted into the wrong dir. It will no longer appear to be a 404.

I thought I placed the origin brush right, but I was wrong?
Well, you can take a look at the map and the script now.

In GoldRush the origin is placed under the tank. I did also.
But I’ll take a look at the origin brush…

Thanks anyway!

Can anybody take a look at my map + script? The tank spawns in the floor, and I don’t know how to fix it. I don’t think the origin is wrong placed, but I am not sure.

Have you tried raising and lowering the origin? this way you can see for sure that it is in fact the placement of the origin that is wrong.
