tank question

(WeeBull) #1

i just looked around in the goldush and fueldump scripts and i found something i didn’t understand. in goldrush it was this:
followspline 0 spln2 50 wait length 32

and in fueldump this:
followspline 0 spln0 80 wait length -64

i understand the followspline 0 spln 2 part, but what is the 50 wait length 32 and 80 wait length -64, what does this do. could 50 and 80 be the speed of the tank moving from one spline to another?
thx for answering

Someone from the SD team please correct me if I’m wrong: But I believe it was Sock saying that the Spline path system was originally created for fighterplanes for one of the Custom ET maps that never got released… They used it later for the tanks in the released maps… ( I did a search here on the forum, but cannot find that particular topic)

Anyway, the 50 (goldrush) and 80 (in fueldump) is the speed the vehicle moves: This is measured in units per second.
So a speed of 50 would indicate the vehicle is moving 50 units per second from one “info_train_spline_main” entitiy towards the other…

There isn’t any SD-documentation whatsover about the ‘lenght’ issue… However I did run some small tests while I was creating the tank for my V1Rocket map: And I believe that “lenght” means how fast the vehicle turns in a corner.

ok thx :fiesta:
what would be a good value for length, just 32?

Well, I tested this a very, very long time ago, so I’m not sure what numbers will give you the best result. So I’m afraid you have to test it yourself.
All I remember is that I tried alot of different numbers, but none of them made any sense really: So I ended up with the same number they used in Fueldump, I think it’s -64…

By The Way, here’s an old but interesting post i found explaining some things: http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=2570&highlight=dampin
