Tank prob (not covered in tut)

(ayatollah) #1

I have read the tutorial posted in the sticky and it doesn’t seem to help. Here is my problem:

I have made sure everything is done as in the tut, I’ve not rotated the md3, I’ve put the origin brush where the entity is and it comes out like this. It seems as if the origin brush is following the splines which then drops everything to the floor. The clip brush still fits with the tank but it all spawns halfway underground. Any help plzzz…

Give the engies a shovel! :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you give a screenshot of how the entities look in radiant?

(ayatollah) #4

The highlighted brush is the origin brush there is the tank shell entity there too. And the clip works with the shape of the tank but everything is through the ground… :???:

(CooperHawkes) #5

move up the waypoints so they match the z-position of the center of the origin brush… or lower the origin brush… whatever you like more

(ayatollah) #6

Both these options dont seem to work. Moving the origin brush just seems to mess up the clipping, without helping the model. Moving the spline points do move the model up, but now the tank doesn’t move! Any other ideas?

just to make it clear (and to lock out that source of error): you have to move, not copy… copy changes entity keys and affiliation

(ayatollah) #8

Yeah I moved the points, not copy. Dont know why the tank wont move when I have moved the spline points?!

If you go back to the beginning of your problem, Cooperhawkes’ idea will save you trouble…

move up the waypoints so they match the z-position of the center of the tanks origin brush
…just select 1 of the splines and press shift+a, this will highlight all of the Splines, now raise them to the desired height…however far the tank went into the ground raise them equally above the ground. If it goes too high or too low, select a spline again and press shift+a and rethink the height. (radiant 1.4 has this shortcut look for “SELECTALLOFTYPE”, check shortcut list if using other than 1,4.)

Yeah that worked thank you to all for their help but now new problem arises.

As you can see there are no tank tracks, but I have set a “model2” value to my script_mover. Any new help?

So yer using the jagdpanther huh ?

key: model2
value: models/mapobjects/tanks_sd/jagdpanther_africa_tracks.md3

for the clip/metal brush entity settings. Use goldrush.map that comes with radiant’s FULL installation for a better idea.
There are also some example tank .maps in the forums somewhere…maybe they will help.
