tank and spline path, prefab request

i would like to have and for the community to have a prefab with a tank moving througn some hills with at least 20 spline paths goign around it… it shouldn’t be very big just good enough to put it in ur own map with the script

this is really difficult for me and the community to have tanks in maps cause i barley understand it… but its too much stuff…it gets me confused… and its too hard to copy the one from goldrush

if there is any tank spline path prefab out there, plz let us know, for the good of the comunity :clap:

Uhm, just create a LARG brush around the tank in goldrush, the select—> select complete tall, you select everything within that brush. Then copy the script from goldrush, and voila. If you’ve done that in a basic map, you could expiriment with all the features the tank has. Like what happends when you remove the model and replace it and stuff. Take you’re time, it’s VERY hard, and it’s better to start with a simple map without a tank.

ok wut u said did wut its sopossed to but it got other brushes to and it got all messed up… we need a prefab… dont tell me how to copy the tank from goldrush cause i have already tried in the past and all i got was half the tank somewhere and the other half somewhere else with… never got it to move or work right… so thats why we need a prefab…

Prefab should have the following:
20 spline paths with 5 controls
the tank from oasis after the allies win
good enough to be able to fit in ur map

No one will be able to take the tank from Oasis, they’d have to recreate it. Also, the tank in Oasis has no clip brushes.

Yes there’s a tank in Oasis. It doesn’t move though. It would be pretty easy to grab it as a prefab too I would imagine.

yeh theres two tanks in Oasis, one that sits there and never moves, and the other the tank that rolls in when Allies win the map.

the tank from oasis is the same tank as in fuel dump, its just different textured… but if anything, get anything that involves any tank in et that moves on the spline path SMOOTHLY and works when u try to put it in ur map

yeah! this guy is right we need more prefabs. thats the only way good custom maps can start looking as good as the should.

plus moving tanks, and stuff is something that if put a lot of maps would be a good thing! imagine a world of tanks and trunkcs to ride and enjoy in tense battels, tanks busting into buildings, rolling down halls, and even auto targetting walls and other cool stuff. the uses are endless.

hey i’m gonna relase my new map real soon! i just gotta get help with advancing spawn points.

Even if some one creates a prefab to do this, you’ll still need to know how to script to get it to do what you want - unless you just want it to follow a path.

If you want it to stop at barriers, can’t cross bridges until they are build, destroy walls, etc, then you’ll need to do scripting

I know this 'cause I’m struggling through it right now (actually I have all the pieces to do the above - finally) If you want to make a complicated map, then you will need to learn scripting or get some one on your team who knows it (IMHO)

ok…i got my tank moving cause i copied it from goldrush and using its script… i removed some of the script cause some of it wasn’t needed… i have everything going good on my tank except one small mistake that i cant figure out… there is a cylinder type thing surrounding the mg42 thats attached to the tank from goldrush… in goldrush… the cylinder thing is desert-style and when i go into mine, its snow-style… the tank and everything else is ok but its just that cylinder thing surrounding the mg42 is snow instead of desert…

still we need a prefab that has the ALMOST EXACT correct scripting for the tank and ALMOST EXACT preferences to the tank like wut we see in the other maps… really wut i want is the tank from oasis… its really not that hard considering its the same tank from fueldump except its differently skinned… really there is so much scripting for the tank that you could easily mess up on and sometimes may not know wuts wrong or wuts right… so thats why we need a prefab with the script… if we wanted it to stop at a barrier, we can change the script ourselfs to do that plus its not that hard and not much scripting instead of doing the whole thing… i’m asking for a prefab that has a tank for allies for desert and all it does is move like 10 points and gets damaged by axis grenades, rockets, etc. :blah:

reason i’m still asking is because the tank i got from goldrush… some of the thing i dont need in the script and i dont know wut but i can get a clear idea but its no PERFECT… this wut gets me messed up on some maps cause its not perfect… i know nothing is perfect but… help lol :beer:

This is the line from the top of the goldrush script. I’m guessing at this, but try adding it to your script.

remapshader “models/mapobjects/tanks_sd/mg42turret” “models/mapobjects/tanks_sd/mg42turret_2”

So you have your tank working. Do you just want to clean up the script then? Remove all the unnecessary parts?

Is the tank in oasis a jagpanther? (but the one in goldrush is a churchill?) Or the other way around?

What do you want the tank to do? ‘Just’ travel along 10 spline points? No hold ups (ie. stuck because barrier etc)?

I’d be willing to help you clean up the script - or try to explain what is going on. Also, is your tank destroyable/constructible?

Tank preferences i want:

10 spline points it moves
Damagble and repairable(also with the axis and allies VO and messages)
