Take and hold

I have been playing a lot more games recently and have lost quite a few times because of take and hold. I do understand the basics of this ( if you take and hold they central area for 5 terns you win). But this doesn’t seem to mean consecutive turns as I have moved a player into the central area only to have them killed and by the end of my next turn I lost because I didn’t move a player into that area.

So my question, can someone explain how this works fully, or just explain what I’m doing wrong?

Much appreciated.

The objective area has three states. If your opponent is within the objective area the rocket flag will be red(assuming you’re blue) and will gain a red tab at the top. This only happens if none of your toons is in the objective area and the opponent has one or more toons in the area. The second state would be your toons in the area and the rocket raises the blue flag. The third condition is when both you and your opponent’s toons are in the objective area, the area borders would be highlighted with blue-red lines. This means that the area is being contested and no one gets a point for this.

To secure a colour tab (red or blue) a team have to have one or more toons in the objective area. Within the same game round,if the opponent places no toons in the objective area during his turn(thus not contesting the area) you will gain one flag point for this in the next round.

Some objective area at certain maps is different in shape it is not always a square. Market for example is a square ring, if you stand the inner most path around the stall your toon is not within objective area so you would have to take note of that. If at any time you get confused, just look at the objective area border colour. Lastly, invisible toons will not capture area, UAVs and other non-toons does not capture area either.
