Tactics for mercs?

(Sytry) #1

Which tactic do you use for each merc since they are difference in speed and loadout.

(Tanker_Ray) #2

git gud.

Even this game have various mercs with plenty of different special abilities, your main kills will always come from your primary weapons, which means you gotta aim well, shoot well.

Fragger’s pineapple might be the best killing skill in regards of killing. otherwise, the Japanese bitch’s laser has the best killing potential at open field maps.

Which tactic do I use with THUNDA? I DON’T play him.

That’s quite a broad question, without a meaningful single answer as such. What mercs are you interested in?

Generally speaking it should be sorta obvious what playstyle a given merc favours.
Nader and Fragger can kill around cover, so they counter campers. They play slowly and ever so slightly tanky, which means having passable map awareness is important.

(Sytry) #5

@Ctrix good question, I’m thinking using a good squad for every map that is suitable. I have test mercs on free rotation but require difference tactic to use it.

(Ctrix) #6

I usually change my squad based on each map and if I know I’m playing attacker or defender.

Overall there’s a few considerations every time.

  1. Is the map close quarter focused or not? Rhino, Aura, Bushwacker etc don’t work well on the more open maps. Sparks, Vasili, Redeye, Arty & Kira don’t work well on the smaller maps.
  2. Is the map open to the sky a lot? Otherwise use Stoaker, Nader or Frager instead of Skyhammer, Arty or Kira.
3.a Do you need to have an engineer? Are you defending? Bushwacker is better. Are you attacking? Proxy is better.
  3. Do you want a medic? Are you defending or attacking? Aura is better at defending, Sawbones is better at being all over the place. Phonix is (arguably) better at attacking.

On free rotation you’ll usually always have one engineer, one frontline merc and one support merc.

Thank you for the answer and tips.

Best multi use team would consist of an engy, fire support (on open or EV maps) / Assault (on closed maps) and a medic. Most allround team would be (imo) Bushwacker, Skyhammer (for open maps) or Stoker (for closed maps) and Sawbonez. With this squad you have Objective, Supportive and Stopping Power for any situation.

I usually always have Nader in my squad, just so I can deal with aura stations and corner campers. On Trainyard/Chapel I’ll use Kira/Arty instead. They also work well on Terminal, the second stage is actually mostly open to the sky, even on the balcony. But Nader is still more reliable. (Kira can absolutly destroy the people hiding between the train carts though)

Having medics in the team can also win or lose you the match. So I always have a medic in case we need one. You never know in advance what the other people on your team are going to want to play as their role. It’s usually safer to assume that someone has an engineer than someone having a medic.
Just keep in mind that someone has to actually be the frontline. You can’t be a medic and kill the other team at the same time (because you’ll die and who’s going to revive you).

(Sytry) #11

@Ctrix, your squad is like Nader,Kira/Arty,Sawbonez/Aura?

(scavazzi4) #12

It’s important to have “role diversity” in your squad, but if you particullary enjoy some mercs have no fear spamming them.
Ctrix gave you the most versatile squad builds which always work especially if you want to be useful to your team.

(nokiII) #13

Just carry everything with arty, skyhammer or stoker. If you can’t, get better until you can.

(Ctrix) #14

@Sytry more like Nader, Kira, Arty/Sawbonez, Aura/Proxy, Bushwacker
Kira and Arty are very similar though. Skyhammer also fills the same roll as Arty and Kira, you can easily use him instead.

(Frogteam) #15

It’s all about Arty, Redeye, Kira all with the Dreiss, for maximum versatility.

This is a real Signature.

@Ctrix and @Frogteam , thank you.
