Swap bronze and default

(blisteringOwlNest) #1

Default skins are awesome. Bronze skins are meh. Would it be possible to swap them? I know a lot of people use bronze cards, and their used for some limited edition cards.

So do you think they should be swapped?

Edit: also, I suggest this as default is how the mercs originally look, and bronze is pretty much the base loudout. I think it’d be nice to see the original skins more often.

(PurpleHippo) #2

yes please, id never use anything but bronze loadouts then.

(bontsa) #3

This question could be re-formed into “skin X is awesome, why couldn’t I insert into loadout Y?” I’ve not faintest idea why SD/Nexon won’t tell us they realize how much more monetizing potential there would be in having separate cosmetic loadouts and functional loadouts that could be “merged”.

This way one could even have Iron Galvanized skin with full functionality (bronze or above) loadout. Not to mention more cosmetic skin variations could be added any time during the game’s lifespan without forcing to re-begin the hunt for the shiniest loadout all over. Heck, they could be real money stuff only (or behind massive RNG) even, making every “functional” card have default skins. Money income: endless. Frustration of the current system: gone.

While we’re at it, separating even merc skin and gun skin? Even more moneys to devs/publishers. And I’d for one be huge sucker for such cosmetics. Haven’t spent a buck for current bull defecate system, only bought mercs so far, but judging from my TF2 purchase history I’d have my account at 0 by the end of the week if cosmetics were separated from augments/weapon choices.

And this is we must not swap them… Ppl would be using only bronzes, there would be no purpose in trading up

So, I don’t think its good idea.

Having RNG decide BOTH loadout and skin is a retarded system in the first place so why not make it easier for people to get a skin thats actually ok?

This was never pointed out on this thread…
And I am for separating loadouts and skins, but with this current system, I am totally against making bronze prettier… They should look like sh*t so people have some reason to trade up for better rarities…

Making bronzes pretty would ruin whole rarity system, and I am against that

(blisteringOwlNest) #7

I don’t know about ruining the rarity system, as it’s the rarity in the first place the separates them. Swapping cobalt and iron would just make iron more valuable, as it would be rarer.

my favourite skin is Swiss gold, but I’m still going to go for cobalts.

(Feley) #8

Yeah true… But if we had default instead of woodland on bronze… Very many people wouldn’t even bother trading up cards, therefore, raritys wouldn’t mean sh*t to them.
That’s why it would ruin rarity system.

Whole point of rarity system is to have best looking skins at highest and most valuable positions… Default is the different story since it has no augments and just because of that it isn’t used much.

(blisteringOwlNest) #9

I’m afraid we’ll have to agree to disagree. How good a skin looks is subjective, but rarity isn’t. And once people get used to the default skins being bronze, there’s no reason to stay at bronze, other than its easier to obtain the one you want. That’s my thoughts anyway.

(Gi.Am) #10

I like the default skins aswell. personaly I think there should be a option to use the default optics instead of whatever card you are using.

This way you still have a reason to want a higher card (better loadout combination than the default) but in case you get a high card you really can’t stand the visuals (looking at you crown gold) you can fall back to the default look.

I mean the joke is even tho the default look is the baseline. It is pretty much the rarest look seen (excluding the max 5 servers ofcourse) because of the missing augments/weapon choices.

Because “this skin is ok” or “Why don’t people actually get the skin they like as default” is subjective.
I can’t stand the default skins, and even though Bronze isn’t the best, it’s worlds better than default in my opinion.
SD should just separate skins from loadouts as card-aleeves of something, so people can buy them or randomly get them from a sleeve-case or something.

(Sorotia) #12

Trouble is, while right now the system isn’t great…people would complain even more if you have to obtain skins and augments separately.

They’re kinda damned if they do and damned if they don’t…

(Supa) #13

If bronze cards had the ability to use the default no-skin gun, I would never get any other cards. I always try and go for carbon fiber silver since it is the closest thing to an ordinary skin.

I am sure they put the ugliest green camo (IMO) on the most available cards for a reason. It makes you want to get something better, encouraging you to spend more money.
As much as I want that feature, I am sure we are never going to get it :frowning:

(Ballto) #14

id like to see a player studio where players can design skins and whatnot and then SD could have them added to the shop for the cost of bronze cards.

The players do most of the work, they pretty much just have to add it to the store and give the designer 20%

(watsyurdeal) #15

I think it’d be nice if we had more skins for Bronze, maybe something like a Desert and Urban camo.

(Sinee) #16

I really love the default skins. Seeing as they’re the mercs’ true skin I’d love to see them more often too. You never see the default skins because everyone trades up. It’s pretty much mandatory in this game to get some augments.

The ability to use the default skin regardless or switching bronze skins with it would be nice. The bronze skins are incredibly ass.

(YeOldeButtcheek) #17

I would love if more bronze variations existed.

I use default loadouts as much as I can, but always wished you could keep the no augment default loadouts, but be able to change the weapons.

(Xenithos) #18

I absolutely love the idea this discussion started on, since many cards look absolutely amazing in default. And I have something kind of but not really funny to say to the people talking about making tons of money off of skin unlocking.

Splash Damage > CS:GO.

Bronze is by far the ugliest skin, especially for weapons. I’m not a fan of carbon and bamboo but at least they look somewhat interesting. Bronze is just… depressing. For every single merc at least one of the lower tiers looks much better. I wish we could downgrade skins, at least in the default-bronze range

uhhh… <.< mmm dunno if Im allowed to say this but they actually used to have a system like that, it even included gun skins not currently ingame
