I know this map doesnt exist, but could it?

-Remove eastern path and command post area
-Put command post in health/ammo cabin along western road
-Main gate already blown, but keep forward bunker a capturable spawn point for both teams
-Make the truck have to escape down the road and across the bridge with the parts
-Have 2 contructable truck barriers, 1 underneath the underpass in front of truck, the other further down the road. (see thumbnails)

Just an idea. Comments?

Sure you could do it. Have fun putting 100 hours into decompiling and recompiling radar.

The side entrance? This means that there would be only one way to the objectives. Bad idea!

-Put command post in health/ammo cabin along western road

Why? The CP belongs to a possible 2nd way inside the main area of the map. The 2nd (and important) Allies spawn depends on it.

This would reduce the chance for Allies to get the objectives - bad idea.

Why? There’s no need to escort the truck. IMO it wouldn’t make the map better.

See above.

For me Radar is one of the best (maybe the best) stopwatch maps out there - no need to change it. The only disadvantage I see is that lots of players have fps problems which makes this map kind of unpopular. The only change I would accept would be fps improvment which IMO isn’t possible without fundamental changes of the map layout.

Well if thats the argument then theres no need to escort the truck in Goldrush is there? I’m only suggesting a possibility. It’d be nice to actually make USE of the road thats currently there for no reason.

Radar is the most balanced competition sw map there is. If anything, i’d like to see sw_fueldump where the 1st half of the map is left out. Allies spawn at the forward bunker (they still have the option of spawning at cp, once built), and must either escort tank from caves to main/side or remove the tank and make main/side tnt only.

From my experience, the road “that is there for no reason” gets used quite a lot.

Not true. The game dynamics for the two maps are completely different. In Goldrush, you have a 5 second run for two items located at the same spot. Radar has a much more significant run from two distinctly different locations. Suggesting that the two obj run portions are the same is ridiculous.

I’m only suggesting a possibility. It’d be nice to actually make USE of the road thats currently there for no reason.

A good thought, that is a suggestion we had made during beta testing, to actually escort the truck after the radar parts were loaded. However, sometimes its a mistake to add game components simply because something is there.
