damn it! how i fix this one??? URGENT! need help!

(EB) #2
  1. open the .amp file in radiant
  2. find the “origin” texture in the texture window and select it
  3. with origin selected, press Shift+a (this will highlight all origin brushes in the map
  4. check each one to make sure it is coupled to an entity
    (ALSO:use brushcleanup often)

thx! :D:D:D

(Loffy) #4

EB is right. The engine does not like brushes with origin textures that just hang around in the map file with no purpose.

(cookie_box) #5

hmm, strange cause i allready had deleted all origin brushes and other, like ladders, clip, trigger, coustum texture, etc. and it still wont work

(Loffy) #6

EB mentioned the cleanup-button, did you use it? I use version 1.4 and in it the button looks like a recycle-symbol (two arrows that are in a circle, chasing each others tail). Press it a couple of time.

thx, ill try that

(cookie_box) #8

o invlid/duplicate planes removed, should the map be ok now?i did hit the clean up several times

(EB) #9

did you do what I said to do ? [since you have removed most origin brushes…>>> (select origin, press shift+a, look for any highlighted brushwork, then press backspace…save and compile)]
have you compiled the map and then tried to run it since then ?

havent tryed yet, takes hell of a long time to compile, i have just started on my second ship

(=PoW= Kernel 2.6.5) #11

I just got this error.
Searched to find this thread.
I followed EB’s instructions to high light all the origin brushes.

While looking at the I discovered I selected Origin on two brushes that should have been Trigger.

Problem fixed. Thanks EB!!!

You can actually get this problem if you try to change brushes from one entity to another. As in you can have a func_door_rotating but later decide that that certain entity should be something else and you change it by highlighting the brushes of the door and right click and make it something else. I find that alot of the time that door entity will still be present in the entity list even though you changed the brushes to something else. And when you highlight that entity in the entity list no brushes will be selected. You cant have an entity like a door without a brush or you will get this error so just select that door entity and delete it from the entity list.

You can avoid this problem by highligting atleast one of the brushes of that entity and editing the classname rather than right clicking and selecting something.
