sv_maxrate and rate

those two settings
sv_maxrate and rate…

As far as I know in Quake 3 the limit is 25000.
What is the limit in ET?
Is there even a limit?

Yes there is a limit for ET. It’s actually a PB setting made by admins (a server admin can change the rate in the server FTP, but I think the limit is 30000 ). If you have a rate higher than 30000 you’ll get kicked by PB, due to “server violation”.
But I think it depends from server to server, but there’s always a limit.

Well I just speak for personal experience with rate 30000, but I don’t see any big difference between that one and 25000.

The question is -if iam correct-: becuse ET use same engin the max limit here also 25000?
Or with other words: matter or not matter if a server admin enable higher rate than 25000?

//

I heard over 25000 is dosent change anything, but other server admins say they notice difference.

My opnion -becuse of the engine - over 25000 dosent change anything.

Well I hope there can answer somebody which does really know it answer…

I mean just because quake 3 had that limit, does not mean it applies to ET also.
And that PB does limit it, well is more an indicator then a prove…

Also… as it seems Jaymod does automatically tune rate setting, and goes beyond 25000 - if you let it.

I think it has to do with the server and client.
If the server only accepts rate 25000 there is no point in doing rate 30000

thats why in some servers they say put your rate to 30k cause the server is too
