[SURVEY] Containment War Update - Initial Response
A question such as “How do you feel about the current system to get loadouts” would have been nice, since I’m not convinced I should spend money on cases when I’m relying on RNG. Even if it was a 30% chance to get a CW skin, there’s no telling if I’ll get the loadout I like or even the mercenaries I use.
Some people may be happy throwing hundreds of dollars at RNG mechanics, but personally I won’t spend a dime if I’m not guaranteed to get exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll just stick to normal cases.
I have a lot of feedback that is hard to make on the survey:
-
Stoker is balanced overall. It’s the M4 that is overpowered.
-
I like both the old and new burst rifles. The smart move would have been to keep one the same (with maybe a slight fire rate reduction to prevent abuse) and change one to fire slower, more powerful shots.
-
I have no problem with giveaways, but if you’re giving away for free something players spent credits or cash on I would prefer if you compensate them fairly. For example, owning Phoenix got me 2 silver loadouts and 1 obsidian loadout, none of which I will ever actually use. In the future I’d prefer no merc giveaways, and if you do give the players who previously owned the merc a better compensation, such as a credit refund. Even a choice of any loadout as an obsidian would be a huge step in the right direction. I don’t care much about the existing cosmetics anyway, but at least I’d actually get to use it.
-
In my opinion Execution is just a terrible, terrible mode. This has nothing to do with your execution of Execution, rather the fact that I find all no respawn modes to be terrible. If other players like this mode, great. But I’m getting really sick of all the execution missions I have to delete.
-
Speaking of missions, they just don’t reset correctly. They bug out all the time and won’t show up after the reset time until you’ve done a few matches. Except sometimes completed/deleted missions simply won’t reset under any conditions, at least until the next mission cycle.
Regarding trade-ins: I can’t fully answer in a multiple choice format.
I just don’t want the possiblity of getting a loadout I already have or one that I’m currently trading in. I think I can now trade in cards for the same merc I’m seeking a new card for, which is great. If this is true, thank you for that (I haven’t tried it yet, but a friend told me you can now). That’s a good step.
However, if I have multiple cards for one merc and I don’t like any of them, why would I trade them in if there’s a much better chance I’ll just get one of the same cards again? I’d love it if the trade-in was more of a re-roll. At the very least, allow me to not get a duplicate of one of the same cards I’m trading in. So if I trade in 3 different Fletcher cards, don’t let the card I receive be one of the same cards. I’d be happy to pay for that.
If it already works this way, then great! But I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. I did a few trade ins when the system was first released and got cards I already had.
Now, if you were to put this idea on steroids, it would be really cool if I wouldn’t get a duplicate of any card that I currently possessed. So, if I collect all but one card for a given merc, and I trade in other merc cards in exchange for the merc I already have nearly all the cards for, then I would be guaranteed to get the final card I don’t already possess for that merc.
On Stoker:
He has the M4, which makes him generally stronger than most mercs and then he even gets an ability that is by default stronger than those of 2 other Fire Support Mercs. I think he is too strong compared to the other Fire Supports, especially to those that dont have the M4.
On Execution/Dome:
Didnt play Dome much so far but especially the first stage seems a bit too easy to defend. But i like it, its nicely designed and has a cool feeling to it.
On the Update/Teasing:
Meh, couldnt care less. I’m always waiting for the exact changes, even tho i was a bit hyped cause they said they were going to change the Burst Rifles. I hoped for something totally different.
On the Giveaway:
It was nice and giving players a heads-up to get Phoenix was a good idea. I saved my creds for Phoenix to buy him (wasting anything on Kira loadouts usually) and am happy for any kind of free stuff. Ofc, more in the future
On the CW Cases:
I will not buy any cases until there is no RNG involved. I just dont want to pay money and then dont get a guaranteed result and the loadout i want, considering that theres so many useless loadouts around, you can craft all Cobalts anyways, i dont play all the mercs and the cases are that expensive.
On the Trade-Ups:
I think for Cobalt it should be in line with all the other Trade-ups.
On Insta-Gib:
Good for the explosions, especially Fragger/Nader, bad for Proxy.
Bad for the Sniper Rifles, they didnt deserve that even tho i can understand why they changed it.
On Burst-Rifles:
CHANGE IT BACK OR LET US CHANGE IT WHILE USING THE WEAPON.
There were several uncalled nerfs in this update, especially the Burst-Rifles and the 0.3 increase to Sparks Get-Up time which makes a huge difference.
All in all, for all that promotion it was a lot of content but i expected more from the balance changes, especially regarding the M4, KeK, Fragger and the Fire Supports (and maybe Proxy).
I agree, up until now the entire Objective/Stopwatch game felt right and balanced for 6vs6, yet dome seems to require at least one more player on each side. I’d prefer they would have balanced this map as well for 6vs6. It’s going to be a disaster in comp where there are only 5vs5 spread on that huge playground.
Yet the attacking side got some advantageous changes for the first area it seems. Used to be very defender biased.
Sent in my response, only want to point out one question which is this one:
http://puu.sh/l31de/85cf431d04.png
Reason I think they should show everything is because then the community can give feedback on certain changes before they are implemented into the game. For example the trade-in system from a while ago, this enormous fluke could have been prevented if you’d had shown it to the community earlier and this way would be able to receive feedback.
All you gotta do is write a single line on the top/bottom of the post saying: “All of these planned changes are subject to change.”

I actually felt on that question that there should have also been a question on our opinion about how we felt they did it. Right or wrong. As in my opinion they over hyped it so much that I was expecting more than what they announced. I think there should have been a full disclosure on that. Kinda like: here is what will come, nothing major more. Especially since we were used to them hiding the content from us beforehand. SO actually giving a heads-up on how differently they’re handling things would have been nice…
good survey, but should have more “i dont care/do not use it” options.
for example i never trade in/out/up/down cards, so i cannot comment on the trade changes. had to press ‘it is fine’ but not sure if it is =))))
Execution mode is an interesting new addition to the game, and I would not call it bad. However it’s definitely not catered to my playstyle
I tend to be more aggressive, I need things to get done! It’s difficult for me to remember that dying has a much larger impact in this mode.
Stoker is pretty cool (I haven’t played him but fought with/against him). The only thing I would initially like is to see his molotov damage juuuuuuuust reduced by like 5 damage per second. Call me sour/salty/bad/whatever, that 40 damage per tick sh-t HURTS!
Interesting survey, but I wish there were “tweak this” options and not neutral, it’s good/bad only.
@EdSir A lot of details are often left out of patch lead ups due to doom prophets. It actually is a problem that certain members of the community will herald the end of times when they see a change they don’t like. Feedback is much better when people have actually gotten hands on the material. Still, some fair warning of changes before they happen wouldn’t hurt.
There’s a poll option missing.
How do you like the new UI design:
I fucking love it.
Sadly you will have to log into a Google account in order to complete this survey, although I figured it wouldn’t be too much of a problem, because I imagine a lot of people have an account already. This is done to help prevent people completing the survey multiple times and throwing the data off. - There is no point looking at inaccurate data!
Lol. It’s easy to create multiple Google accounts. I don’t want or have a google account, so I cant take the survey even though I’d love to. But the statement that it prevents multiple submissions is laughable.
@Anaconda It’s not necessarily to “prevent” them, because as you said, someone else can just sign up for another one and complete it again. It’s just supposed to minimise the possibility of doing so. Without setting it on the survey, people can simply reload the page as a new anonymous user and retake it as many times as they like - while, requiring a Google account means someone will have to go through the effort of setting up multiple accounts. Hope this explains the reasoning a little more
Took the survey. I would like to stress the burst fire assault rifles nerf. I used to love BR-16. I know it was slightly OP for players who could handle it. However as of now, its completely useless for me. The refire rate is srsly low. Please bring it back as it was. Even the new sound sucks. Other than that the new content is great.
Ok, I’ve took the survey. Now let’s have a little talk about the update and believe me there’s some thing to discuss.
-
Firstly, and none of the less : What did you do with those Burst Rifle, seriously, they were perfect, nice response to Auto Rifles, now they’re …useless, even SMG are better at long range. Now I have to be 1 foot away from my target to deal damages decently, more than this it like shooting a spider from an aircraft (spider need to be killed by aircraft by the way)
-
Stoker : Even if his fire deals a huge amount of damages (but no huge enougth to kill a Rhino trap inside…) it has too much weaknesses. It last 10s seconds, can’t be used often (I mean like those ugly stiky bombs for exemple), sometime it can’t be thrown, why… I don’t know, maybe the merc don’t want to burn people alive, and sometime it’s completly useless, like iside the blocked wagon on Skypiards map, I’ve used it to “defend” the planted C4 and it seems that the fire fall through the wagon and deals no damages, fortunatly, they’ve didn’t had the time to defuse…

Maybe you should do something for the event cards. Beside the fact that getting more from standards loadout than plum cards is like trying to win the lottery. It could be interesting to up the chances to get one during the event. I’m mean, we’re playing during the event so that would be “normal” to get some of those cards compared to people that don’t play during the event. I’m not meaning that we should get all those rare and shinny cards each time we open a loadout but while getting Gold and Cobalt still hard, event ones should be easier while it during the event.
-
Giving Phoenix was a good and a bad idea, good because it may make people play meds and support a little bit more, bad because we now have a lot of phoenix rushing around like assault mercs thinking that they’re going to “revive themselves” easily, what leads to …complete failure. Phoenix isn’t an easy merc to master, he got pretty good andstrong abilities but it’s not an assault merc and too much people are using like this and that make games look freaking annoying just seeing phoenix everywhere, dying without understanding why and leaving, saying everybody’s cheating.
-
Execution : I love this mode, it’s tricky, you have to play in team, be carefull not to rush everywhere like in Objective / Stopwatch but the allowed time seems to be a little bit too short and / or C4 is too hard to play in this mode, Maybe there’s should be Exec. Maps with Timer, like a kind of Deathmatch with time and other maps with objectives, I think that won’t messed the goal of this mode and would be a little bit more interesting while still being tricky to play

However, this update is fantastic, I’m enjoying myself, I love it. Too bad that I may won’t be able to play for a long period due to my enlistment :,(
Great work Devs ! Continue !
You didn’t ask us how we felt about the changes to the Orbital Laser, because that’s pretty lame now
too much hate for Kira in this Update, far too much.
@Blackers Yeah, I agree
Kira was effective, but tough to play to begin with - not really sure what all the changes to her were about (beit direct or indirect). Hopefully the feedback will be considered going forward.
On the bright side, nothing is 100% final! Still plenty of changes that could be made throughout the beta. :3
xD
