lol now i get it why its called summer “squash”. Cuz ur squashing bugs. siick
Summer Squash
Yes, it’s about time to push this game out of beta, don’t you think? It’s quite possibly too late for Dirty Bomb anyway with the surge of hero fps games right now.
Also, I think the player base is going to dwindle without something limited to work for. Maybe you should consider doing a longer event with special edition items where both beginners and veterans have something to work for. A longer event would reduce the overhead to create.
This is a pretty good compromise for people who were loaded with silvers and golds that hadn’t been traded up. I’d have to do the math, but I think with the 50k price tag on cobalts we’re still taking it in the end, but at least it’s closer.
Okay, now tell everyone about it by in game announcement. I think it’s optimistic to say that 20% of the players check this forum regularly. The reason people didn’t see the crafting stuff is it wasn’t in game. I don’t check regularly enough to have even seen it until it was in.
Lastly, this new crafting system doesn’t address the sudden drop in utility for silver and gold. You’ve set cobalt up to be the most desirable, but then taken silver and gold out of the path to it. Why would someone spend so much grind to buy a gold? It literally costs 25k credits + ~5 cases (350 fragments), or about 30k credits, to sidestep. The only reason to do this is if you prefer the gold over the cobalt. The only reason to hang onto a dropped gold if you are waiting for an event or you happen to get the card you wanted and don’t have the cobalt version yet.
I think you need to make the loss for crafting -> recycling silver and golds a little less harsh, but who knows. Maybe you could base it on how many are actually crafted.
I’m gonna believe it once the collision box bug on Trainyard’s 2nd objective has been fixed.
All this stuff is good, but…
All of us want turtle! Please work on him and release him in 2016 PLEASE! :d
At this point, I believe Splash Damage and even Nexon of America to a degree needs to explore the psychology of their player base if they have not already. I know Wizards of the coast did this for Magic: The gathering. This type of technique may be helpful here if used again. Just my opinion of course… if any of what I typed makes any sense that is.
I don’t understand…
Why now?
Why not in the start of the year or so?
You have lost LOT of players and many so called veterans have just grew tired to the game. These aren’t just annoying bugs, glitches or performance issues but also balance things and that pubs don’t match competitive.
Most of the players playing are newbies, they won’t probably stay long or just decide to “have so shootout fun”.
Many veterans of other fps games are absolutely stunned that there are things like shotgun jumping in the game when it’s mostly randomized death. If then merc like Proxy wins to be some sort of mascot for Dirty Bomb in one of the events…it pretty much tells what the game was going for. But that kind of things are shortlived.
Also the replayable value of Dirty Bomb has decreased because nothing is done to maps. These aren’t lag issues or bugs but there are severe problems with certain stages of the maps. The new maps like Dome and now Dockyard are the exact OPPOSITE that Dirty Bomb should thrive for if they are going for 5-6vs5-6 competitive. They are more like sandboxes with weird angles for random encounters/camping just like execution maps have.
Sometimes I wondered have the designer of these maps ever played seriously any FPS games, team fortress doesn’t count here.
Many players never cared about cobalts, skins, trinkets, loadouts (as long as it’s bronze), events or even some of the new mercs but that the game works, offers balanced tactical gameplay that will make you want to come back in the long run.
If you had done this already ages ago plus offered balance when it comes to matches, guns and merc abilities, people like me and others would have stayed further.
You had eggs in the wrong basket in the first place and now you must squash them.

I think that the key might be to imagine that what you all see isn’t the entirety of what goes on behind the scenes. Priorities are always adjusting, for a myriad of reasons that aren’t always made public. Like any business, really.

I can understand there are many reasons for it.
I’m just saying how certain part of the player base (which half of it is already gone) sees this thing.
Btw, you are going to fix/change shotguns some day, right? Because it’s issues like these much more than crafting etc. that decide whether people stay in the game or not.

I’m confused, shotguns are broken?
Yes Exedore. The shotgun jumping thing is an issue with some players. As to exactly why, I have not quite figured that out myself. I don’t understand why some players get upset when shotguns kill them at close range, when that is when shotguns are at their best.
Now jumping once and shooting a shotgun every once in a while is fine for me. Jumping forward to close in on your target and firing to me is part of the game. Some one jumping around and trying to circle or flank them with a shotgun. okay I can see how that is annoying, but a skilled player to me should know they need to reposition themselves and fast. In this situation i find that it is still a game of skill. Both players should still be focused on their positioning and aiming. One just is utilizing the jump mechanics more than the other. This still feels like a fight to me.
What usually gets me is those who simply jump side to side in front of you with a shotgun. There is no sign of flanking or positioning. They are simply spamming jump back and forth and shooting their opponent who appears to have little choice but to fire side to side and hope they hit them. I do not find that situation to be fair or fun for the opponent. Where is the display of skill? This situation to me feels more like just a shooting gallery.
Also the second situation is not just limited to shotguns. It is also quite deadly with regular guns, and stickies. These type of tactics also remind me of the rare cases of jump sniping I saw before that got hit. I am surprised I have not heard anything about this being a problem for any body else.
I think retired does have a point about the map size. If you have a large map with a small group of players I think the game play could turn into something similar as to how Evolve is currently. I think Skilled players will know better but I don’t know if the general player will. I will have to wait and see for myself some day.
Good luck as always with things. I know the image of Splash Damage is not strong with some players right now. I hope you are up for the challenge
I mean…since the new cases I’ve gotten several golds, and just yesterday my arsenal crate dropped 5 cases and I got a decent Cobalt Rhino from one of those (that I’ll be scrapping bc I hate the slow mercs) but…yeah. I guess it’s cool that you’re removing the boosters I don’t care about.
Always up for bugs being squashed - like, hey, what’s the damn point of being able to cancel a join in the server list if it doesn’t actually cancel the join? That’s just an annoyance though, there are much bigger bugs I’m hoping will be fixed.
Tbh I don’t see a problem with crafting in a general sense. Cobalts aren’t needed, they’re wanted. If I got the Cobalt I wanted instantly what do I have left to farm for? As it is I’m usually sitting on a big pile of credits unless I feel like wasting some crafting random loadouts. I have enough frags/credits to Cobalts, but I don’t see the point in doing so.
The one thing I do concede is that the bump from gold to cobalt is an insane jump. Like, credits and fragments, okay…but the freaking kits you need??? That’s ridiculous. I was happy to get 5 of the weapon kits from an arsenal crate until I saw how many you needed for Cobalt. Like, damn. I don’t really care since I like the silver skins better, but i can see how people who want to farm all the Cobalts would be frustrated.
I just got 5 cases in an arsenal crate… plus nothing of this matters, what matters is that ranked is dead, and you keep “Hey look a new execution map!” No one ever gave a rats ass about execution, If I want to play defuse plant bomb, I’ll play CS. People play execution because you force them to with the missions. Fix ranked please. Maybe stop the casual stopwatch matches and make people play ranked for Stopwatch.
Ranked was fine as it was before, where noobs got punked by pro teams, nothing wrong with that, and its a bronze player saying this. It worked, I could actually find games, now people don’t even bother to clicked the ranked button. You guys gave in too soon to the complaints.

@THUNDA
I agree on balancing mercs and weapons but I think Thunder’s cooldown should stay as it is now but instead bring back EMP effect and change the concussion so if you look away from the grenade the concussion effect is lowered
Let’s hope they do something about it[/quote]
And please, remove that pure 255 white effect that just f**k up our eyes. I4m mostly playing in a dark room and that sudden white is really bad for eyes. It could be lesser white or a massive blur of the actual screen that will have the same ingame effect but will be easier on the eyes.
i feel bad for devs, people are only writing stuff like “DO THIS NOW!1!1!1” “THIS DEV TEAM SUCKS, BLIZZARD BETTER”, but most of these people dont understand stuff like, its small dev team with other games and not crazy amounts of money, and they also make 58 threads with the same topic, because they think it will help, no they dont help, devs areny stupidand they know a lot of problems that we dont know.
just stop
yeah from my experience… continuously telling some one “YOU SUCK!!!” doesn’t really help. Darkness only generates more darkness. It is hard to put love and joy into something when all you are given is hate and sorrow. GIGO: garbage in garbage out. That’s why I try to provide some support and be constructive when I can.
We are all all human here… well except for Raziel… She’s a brid…and… Amerika… definitely not human because Amerika has to compile… Exedore appears to be a cat… BananaSlug… that’s self explanatory… I also see Jaba… plus other stuff I don’t even want to try to describe…
Okay maybe we are not all human here… but the point still stands… what ever the point was I was trying to make…
We all try and fail. We can only work with what we got sometimes. We are no ones slaves. It’s life. Personally I find it better to be as constructive as possible with people to work toward a common goal. That’s just me though.
