Summer Squash made my game worse

(opicr0n) #21

Not noticing fps drops, but the past updates messed up molotovs, added freezes and reload problems, shooting problems (aka. not firing on mouseclick 1).

So frustrating…

And sadly, 3/4 you mentioned are game-breaking. They make the game unplayable as basic mechanics are essential for normal gameplay. The reload problems, freezes, strange lag that’s like a combination of connection and low fps, and other problems are really stopping me from playing. I’m sure a lot of potential new players are being turned away with the most recent update. If they joined after, they might think that’s how the game always is and never give it a second chance. :frowning:

Maybe the FPS is slightly more stable, but I’m getting 5 times as many freezes as before (and I mean, like, 10 second freezes). It seems to happen when multiple audios overlap or the map updates from an objective.

Depends on your definition of ‘Potatomachine’, though. I have a Pentium G3258, which really holds me back, but also a GTX 960. I run on medium at ~50 fps, but my game and menus tend to have minor freezes frequently. I used to use a laptop with an I7-3610QM, but a GT 640m, and I remember having more stable of the same FPS (if below 40fps), and far fewer freezes.

Just remember guys, DB was made on Unreal Engine 3, which hasn’t always been the friendliest when it comes to performance.

Im on a decent computer, though it’s a few years old, and squeezed out more life with as much upgrading as possible.

An old phenom ii x 6, 8gb ram, and a r9 200 series card.

Im getting high framerates, sometimes it feels like im in the matrix!

Personally, my game performance has improved - though there are more game crashes now.

Actually, I cannot remember the game crashing at all previously. Though I did make the mistake of upgrading to Windows 10, which could be a factor.

I dont think ive ever seen seen lower than 100fps in windows 10 and under 70fps(gameplay only 160 min in main screen ) in windows 7 prior to reinstall of win 7. Its dual boot on same machine.

After reinstalling windows getting the amd gpu to play nice with my intell gpu(intell gpu is only for tv and media cener as the latest amd driver seems to have broken hdcp in media center in 7)
im getting well over 120fps and never seems to go under 100-120fps minimum

Now im getting 140-190 fps in both systems on average

My only gripe with the game which might not be the game is mouse movement isnt as smooth as rest of the game. It seems like a few updates ago is when mouse feels rough and not silky smooth. When playing most mercs its not noticable enles you look for it but using one of the snipers you see the movement is not smooth when trying to snipe some one running and theres micro jumps in the movement

Okay I am back with some benchmarks, first 4 from before the patch:

Frames: 17072 - Time: 83031ms - Avg: 205.610 - Min: 111 - Max: 266
Frames: 14729 - Time: 76140ms - Avg: 193.446 - Min: 88 - Max: 260
Frames: 7856 - Time: 46969ms - Avg: 167.259 - Min: 0 - Max: 224
Frames: 54770 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 182.567 - Min: 126 - Max: 253

Then 3 from today:

Frames: 44788 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 149.293 - Min: 97 - Max: 219
Frames: 56946 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 189.820 - Min: 120 - Max: 287
Frames: 47560 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 158.533 - Min: 103 - Max: 287

It is pretty much the same for me, the numbers don’t lie. I was expecting a difference.
980ti, 3930k, 1440p res - settings: quality maxed, useless eyecandy settings off, thead sync off.
edit: I was not running an overclock on the 980ti today, so i lose some performance from that.

How u get those i dont see a benchmark option in game

(Herr_Hanz) #29

i went from 130-140 fps to 180. i only have everything set on low via the menu. maybe you guys use config’s and the update changed something in there?

(dlux) #30

I benchmark it with fraps, set the timer to 300 seconds and the results will be found in frapslog.txt

(RazielWarmonic) #31

Yup, we are aware of the performance issues from the last patch and are investigating them! Thanks for staying on top of it, guys!

(Speedless_Flash) #32

Atleaset a DEV replied. Did u guys change the location of ASIA server loaction

worse than i though it was

(Tanker_Ray) #34

Not only performance issues, but the brand new bugs.

Those are so crippling that I just can’t play the game properly.

We really do need a quick hotfix patch, just like Fletcha had one before because of the wrong weapon switch fix.

Please please fix the reload bug and let us play. I stopped playing DB because of this.

i actually havent met this “reaload bug” youre talking about.
maybe something in my pc fixed it.
(having a potato pc really helps sometimes)

(The_N00Ba) #36

I am sure they are aware of some of the "new’ bugs as well. Definitely report them in the bug forums when you can. Pretty sure Raziel Warmonic even updated/did something with how to report bugs here…

As far as I know it occurs when you perform a long jump and then try to reload immediately.
Try it, you should be able to reproduce it.

(JonBongNoJovi) #38

Kinda wish they had prioritized getting the map updates out first , the summer squash fixes feel kinda underwhelming.

@sweetColumn @Kirays @RazielWarmonic @stayfreshshoe

It’s actually TWO bugs in once.

1st one : R key does not work so that you have to spam the damn R key for over 5times.

 • I can handle this, though it is still very annoying. I guess suddenly the game just won’t listen to R key for several second, that’s what I’ve thought.

2nd one : WALK cancels the reload because game thinks walking = sprint for some reason.

 • This one is the top worst. I can’t explain the anger I felt with this bug. Jumping, Crouching also cancels the reload, but the fact you can’t reload while walking. This is so critical. You have to STAND STILL while reloading when this bug appears, or either run back to ally base(place where you 100% sure it’s safe) and then stand still ~ reload.

May be this one happens right after the long jump, just like you told me Kirays. But I had this while I wasn’t even moving urgent, just peacefully walking THEN suddenly I just can’t reload without standing still.
