Suggetions

Feel free to chime in, but be cool about it please.

SUGGESTIONS

 • Weapons - Damage needs to be increased. Each bullet needs to have an impact on the target beyond just dropping health. A charging enemy getting shot four times needs to react like someone who got shot four times (or at least slow the charge). Running full speed after taking damage like that doesn’t happen.

-Phantom - His ability needs to work when he is in combat, or healing a fallen teammate. His ability is the only ability that stops working during combat.

-Headshots - Fix the hit box. Twice in the past 24 hours I was in close range and shot an enemy 3-4 times in the head without a head shot. They both in turn hit me in the head with a bat and knife and killed me. This would have never happened if the recommendation under ‘weapons’ was in place.

-“Crouch Spamming” and “Bunny Hopping” - The gun spread needs to be drastically (drastically) increased under these circumstances, and accuracy needs to take a significant hit. Bunny Hopping is jumping while shooting, and Crouch Spamming is tapping crouch repeatedly while shooting.

-Airstrikes (Skyhammer, Arty, Kira, etc.) - Increase damage and effective range (radius) for these weapons. Anyone within 20 feet should be dead, period. I can run through these blasts unscathed many, many times. I might take damage, but I won’t die.

-Nader’s M32 - It skips on impact….skips! This needs to explode on impact. In real life an M32 has a kill range of 5 to 10 meters depending on the projectile (up to 30 feet). Why is anyone getting hit with this and living? There should be no revive option for this impact.

-Cases - Ditch the roulette option or give me an option to permanently skip it with having to hit the skip button each time. Stop asking me to confirm to open my cases. It should be obvious that I want to open in it.

-Jobs - New jobs do not always load when the timer hits. This past 3 hour block I had no jobs to complete.

-Jobs in progress - I’d like a keypad option to view my job progress while in game.

-“Return to menu” - I’d like an option to return to the game servers from a game menu instead of being kicked back to the main screen.

-Loadouts - I like them, but I have cobalt cards I don’t use. Is there a system in the works to trade them down for gold cards, trade them to others, or sell them back for credits?

You’re new around here, are you?

Welcome

 1. No, it doesn’t matter if in real life you can’t run after being shot 4 times, this is a game. Time to kill is fine as well. Also, if you put four shots into someone and they still manage to run up to you and kill you, then that’s your fault.
 2. Hell no, allowing him to use his shield in combat and when doing objectives would make all the people that complained about him before complain even more. Yeah, Phantom needs a buff, but that’s definitely not the way to do it.
 3. Hit box is fine, sounds to me like you missed.
 4. These people have to move their mouse a lot more than you do, that’s their disadvantage. If you’re already aiming at someone’s head when they jump, you barely have to look up to land body shots. If you’re up against someone spamming crouch, aim at their body and when they crouch you’ll get headshots, you’ll never miss a shot against someone that does this.
 5. You probably ran through friendly fire support abilities. The radius is massive on airstrikes and there is absolutely no way you ran through an enemy air strike and lived.
 6. That would just make Nader into an even easier merc to play. Currently, when you miss it’s very likely the person you missed won’t take damage. With your idea, you can just spam in their general direction.
 7. Yeah, that would be nice.
 8. That’s a bug that they are already looking into.
 9. Sure, why not?
 10. Same as 9.
 11. They are working on something, which is said to be coming in the next update.

counter strike

I generally disagree with everything, but Nader’s nades really do need to explode in contact at any range. If a nade explodes near you, you take damage as well. This would make Nader much less frustrating to play in close range situations.
Inadvertedly this would also boost the popularity of Fail Safe, which is okay, I guess.

Sadly a lot of your suggestions here essentially break what Dirty Bomb is designed to be. I’m sad to see we already have some sarcastic responses from some people, so I will try and summarise and explain it properly for you.

The TTK (time-to-kill) in Dirty Bomb is intentionally high compared to perhaps some other shooters out there, such as Counter Strike or CoD. It would be no fun if you could bounce around everywhere and 1-2 shot every single person, so the slower TTK is intentional to balance this out a little in a game such as this one.

You mean, Phantom being able to shoot/attack while cloaked? Or revive a fallen team-mate while cloaked? - Definitely not I am afraid. That would be absurdly overpowered if he could attack while cloaked, mainly for his shield as a reason, but also it is designed to be stealthy, not randomly shooting people while invisible. I could see him being useful as arming/disarming C4 or helping up while cloaked, but it would need some work first. Attacking while cloaked is out of the question 100% though, I am afraid.

Hmm, in all my time playing DB, not once have I thought the head hit-box was out of whack. Was it perhaps a connection/server-side issue, rather than an actual hit-box issue?

The gun spread is increased noticeably so whilst you are jumping, however Dirty Bomb (again) is designed to be fast-paced - hip-firing and constantly moving. If the spread were comparable to something like CS:GO it would slow down the game drastically, and would make the entire movement system redundant, because no one would be able to hit anything. Aiming is only part of the game - the other is movement.

Are you sure these aren’t your own team’s air-strikes/areal attacks? I’ve never once “not taken damage” when I’ve foolishly been near a Skyhammer airstrike. Arty’s AoE could perhaps use a small buff, but Kira’s is fine. Her ability is designed to be a beam, not a large AoE - this is compensated by the fact that it can move (fairly quickly) and kill multiple enemies in a controlled space.

It’s not real life. This is done for balance reasons.

These are UI confirmations, you will find a confirmation box on almost any UI that allows you to perform a function that cannot be undone. Sure, 99% of the time you might not need that “I am sure” button to be there, but you might do one day, and it will be there to stop you making a mistake when you do. As for clicking skip, I personally don’t find it a bit deal…

That’s a known bug. It’s being looked into. - Sometimes however, it’s just a graphical glitch. If you play a match, the missions will show up.

Would be handy, but not essential. It’s not put in the game right now because if one was to be included, they would run the risk of pushing people to intentionally farm a specific type of EXP, that could result in throwing games. (The amount of times I’ve had someone deliberately let me die when I’m arming/disarming, so that THEY can get the game-mode exp for themselves is infuriating)

So you want a button that returns you to the server browser? (correct me if I’m reading that wrong) Not sure that’s entirely essential. Returning to the main menu is fine… Why would you want several buttons taking you different places? You can access everything from the main menu.

There is no trade-down option, and one isn’t planned either. We have been promised a “solution to useless cobalt cards” in the next update, but it hasn’t been revealed exactly what that is yet. There is no way to sell cards for credits either - the only thing you can do right now, is trade up.

I hope this helps answer a few of your questions here, and explain a little more about the game.
I’m sad to see we already have some sarcastic responses from some people
Sarcasm is what gets me through the day sometimes. You leave it alone!

On a serious note though, a lot of the suggestions just take away Dirty Bomb’s differences and try to force it into being …every other game.

Missions not refilling is a known bug (known to us, anyway, @Faraleth is tasked with yelling at them on streams to find out when they’ll fix it!).

Being able to see your mission progress in game isn’t a thing because until the game fully concludes, you haven’t made any progress. Making it so people can see the amount of XP (Support/Combat/Game Mode) they’ve scored so far during the game feels like an unnecessary distraction to add, but it could be useful if you’re trying to finish off a specific mission.

Loadout suggestion is valid, guess we just have to wait and see what they are actually work on with that.

As for the suggestions aimed at the number of clicks involved to do certain things, yeah. This could be better in almost every game ever. Probably not something that’ll happen. I have never wanted to sit and watch the case fake-roulette stuff either.

@Backuplight Sarcastic-ception… The moment you realise…
That was ALSO sarcastic!! Dun dun dunnnnn…
Sorry. I had to. c:

All these problems probably stem from the fact that DB isn’t real life.

(Amerika) #10

Yeah, suggestions to change the game into what equates to CS or even Arma probably isn’t going to be popular for players who are specifically playing Dirty Bomb because it’s a fast paced FPS that doesn’t get drug down by the “real world”.

(Litego) #11

I can agree with the non-gameplay related suggestions. The gameplay related suggestions however just piss me off, can’t help it. But I will refrain from going into it.

(OUTLAW11) #12

Thanks for the comments (esp. Faraleth). No one expects a game to mimic life perfectly. As far as gameplay is concerned you can scrap my comments, but the fact that I can put 7 or more body shots on a person without registering a kill (or at least slow the rush) is ridiculous. I understand the TTK concept (and I do agree with it), but I feel this needs to be nerfed a bit.

Phantom for jobs and healing would be great. The whistling sound that accompanies his cloaking is like a tornado anyways. I don’t find it difficult to locate him.

Headshots - Could have been lag.

I understand the run-and-gun purpose, but I don’t see how it would slow anything down by increasing spread. The jumper/croucher would die quickly and the fight winner would proceed onto the objective. This feels more like rewarding bad aim. The same thing happens in Combat Arms–with the same arguments on both sides.

Nader’s M32 - Faraleth can you expand on “balance reasons?”

Job’s in Progress - I ask for a in-game viewing option because it would prompt me to switch my mercs to complete other jobs.

Server button yes. Kicking me back to the home screen is a drag. It delays gameplay.

Cobalt cards - Update - yay!

Thanks for the comments, all.

The amount of shots you have to put into somebody depends on what weapon you’re using, what merc you’re shooting at and if you hit them in the head or not (deals double damage). If you’re having issues putting people down quickly then it’s more of an aim issue than a TTK issue. Dirty Bomb rewards consistent accurate aim. It’s part of skill ceiling and mastering it is one of the things that many people like in Dirty Bomb that other games like Call of Duty do not have. CoD is very much a game that rewards the first person to see the other where DB rewards consistent aim.

DB is a pretty easy transition for myself since I am quite adept at using the Quake 3 lightning gun. Go learn how to play with the lightning gun and then come back to DB while also making sure to go for headshots and you’ll be a beast

People who jump while trying to shoot already get increased spread. However, it’s still viable. But if somebody constantly does it and beats you that means your aim was worse than the game breaking their aim with more spread and you should probably try to fix that.
