Suggestions to improve Dirty Bomb (Comment your own suggestions below!)

Me and my buddy Blue have noticed quite a few features missing from Dirty Bomb, if you want to recommend anything else we haven’t listed please put it down in the comments. If we’re lucky the developers might take our advice in the matter.

Ammo Icons - There is a common problem with ammunition specialists (Especially Skyhammer) because they don’t give other people ammo. A good way in fixing this is having an ammo icon over friendly players when they are down on their last mag. This is similar to how medics behave with their health warning. Sure its kind of mind dumbing but it will definitely solve most of the Skyhammer problems with not giving away ammo.

Custom Crosshairs - There are really only two cross hairs on Dirty Bomb. A dot and a basic plus dash reticule. I doubt many players actually prefer those two and the implementation of custom crosshairs would be great. Not to mention the current crosshairs are far too large even on the smallest setting (On TF2 that would be closer to the largest option)

Trying out/renting mercs/loadouts - In a business view this is actually beneficial. Whilst yes some people will just cheese this system and try out loadouts whenever they want to instead of buying the games loadouts. But those people won’t actually spend real money for those loadouts anyway. The biggest problem I see with the whole buying merc business model that people are afraid of spending money on mercs because more often than not they don’t know what to expect. Giving them a single try out for a day or a few number of matches will let them get a grip for what to expect and then give it a shot in buying the mercs. Another idea is renting. Renting could be done by both real money and in-game money and would still allow you to earn from the whole “borrowing” aspect. This is similar to the likes of Blacklight : Retribution (Before it became P2W in its later stages of development).

This is a great arena-fps and I would really like to see this game getting better. I’m afraid that it might become in the likes of Blacklight : Retribution or Loadout. This game is great in its F2P aspect but there are still more things that can be improved/implemented for both the benefit of the consumer and the developers. I hope some of this information makes it through the staff behind Dirty Bomb. Comment below any suggestions you would like to make it into the game before its release out of beta.

Hey buddy! You should try out the splashdamage forums as well… I’ve gotten a response from a dev there myself.

Anyways to address your points…
ammo icons: I believe this has been implemented, I’ve seen players who have low ammo get like an icon over their heads. Sadly I’m not sure if it helps.

custom Crosshairs:
While i am personally happy with my choices, I agree that this will be helpful. STOGE and I put together a guide for a custom mumble crosshair overlay, but something built INTO the game would be great. Message me if you’re interested in seeing this guide btw.

Renting out:
I’m not sure if I agree with renting out loadouts… However I think renting out mercs for a couple of matches is a great idea. They have a similar system in Planetside 2 where you can trial a weapon, but that button goes away after the trial. I think they need to be careful and really limit the trial period, however. keep it to like 3 matches or something. 5 max.

However, i think it’d be best if they implemented the trial once they get more mercs into the pool. Not sure how useful it is now given that you already have 2 by default unlocked, and 3 extra in free rotation.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t know they had those ammo icons already implemented (I guess they are probably not very noticeable). It’d be better if they were the style of Battlefield where there is a massive ammo box icon right over peoples heads (Although I fear that might be obstructive). The problem with ammo-grinches has grown too far in public matches, I hope there is a way to address this problem outside of what I can think.
