One issue I’ve experienced with Brink is how difficult it has been to play with a group of 6 or more friends. We played some co op maps together as a group of 6 to 7 people. Afterward we wanted to play some competitive matches against other human players. It was nearly impossible to get our group in a game that: 1. Had enough slots for our team. 2. A game that the server host could handle more than 14 players without lagging out.
I believe that this can be fixed easily by implementing:
- In game match settings that would allow the host to close up a room’s max players. Additionally an in game match settings option to restart a game, and to change a privately made game to a public game. Therefore once a team is set up, the game can be opened to allow for randoms to join.
- A simple lobby system in which we can party up and join a public room that matches our preferences.
As it currently functions, the matchmaking only functions for the 1 player searching for a game. So in addition to making it difficult to join a game as a group, the game will put you in a game that may not lag with just you in it, but once you invite your party and they get in, the host may not be able to handle all of the players, which means a laggy game.
I really enjoy this game and would love to see it evolve it’s current matchmaking system to be less restrictive in terms of playing PUBLIC games with a large group of friends.
Anyone figure out a working approach to this problem please share it.
