Suggestions in regards to Competetive Mode

(AdmiralTeddy) #1

Hello,

I think to play competitive there should be a few rules set:

People should own 5 Mercs and also there should be a “Merc limit”.

Let me explain: In a normal match, playing vs 4 or too many snipers or any Merc really, isn’t fun, at times even over powered.

I think the loadout should be allowed to let people select whatever mercs they want (for their 3 cards) but in deployment there should be a max 2 of each char or class limitation.

this way we can have 2 medics or 2 auras or something like that. It’ll help avoid a team just camping healing stations or spamming airstrikes or dominating with snipers.

Just a suggestion, I feel it’d improve comp game environments.

I see your point in these rules. And I agree with some of them. But I don’t like it getting so limit and so strict. I want db to stay flexible in many areas.

Competetive isn’t really the same as casual matches. It’s a very different thing having an entire team push an objective compared to a non communicating group of random players. I haven’t even played the matchmaking but I know balancing a competitive side of a game based on the casual experience makes no sense.

The reason you likely won’t see sniper teams like that in competitive is their ability to push and hold close quarter choke points is bad.

That is true to some extent, in certain maps (such as trainyard) the multiple snipers works but in others like terminal it doesn’t.

We all know all an aura/aura stack takes, is a fragger/nader or a smoke grenade but it’s still debate able.

I just think doing what I suggested just closes down the play style options a team can take all different chars anyway but if my idea’s implanted they’re kinda forced to.

Again this is a concept I had in mind which is very debatable based on what you just said regarding the players actually working together. But there also exists the solo q dilemma (which is a nightmare atm since you usually get matched up vs teams).

But yeah you make valid points @pinkClaymore and I do agree with you @Littelboy

While the game is still in beta I think they should experiment with some suggestions like this. I have high hopes for competitive play and believe the rule set should be fairly strict in terms of what you can play, in my opinion some mercs should be disabled and classes should definitely be limited.

Well, I wasn’t playing much competitive, mostly because I CAN’T FIND ANY MATCH :disappointed:
Is it because almost nobody plays it or its any other issue :open_mouth:

@JohnS yeah man nobody plays it cause you’ll get 5 man stacks against you

Ranked needs to be changed. One queue for solo-duo and a different queue for teams. Too many games are premade vs solos that just become stomps.

I suggest someone please look at the Australian servers. I have never been able to successfully connect to an Australia competitive match. Sometimes I get to a lobby but then it bugs out after a while. It also shows a message about ‘disconnected from server’. It’s funny because I have no problems at all connecting to North America, and I have to use that now. But I have a high ping which isn’t great.

I agree with the OP. in competitive, since you do play seriously and want to win and get ranked and have missions to win competitive matches etc, it should allow you to select more mercs into your squad, e.g. 5 mercs. So that in case your team mates aren’t doing their roles correctly, or your team is missing a certain merc’s abilities, you have a much better chance of filling that role yourself. Basically, with 5 mercs you should be able to cover all parts of the match yourself, i.e. medic, engi, soldier, sniper, ammo.
