It is a rambo class you are supposed to charge foward and stick people with your needle most likely while being shot at. They have never been a problem they have one advantage and one advantage only health, ammo disadvantage being less of a problem tho in et with ammo with racks and light weapons skill. But soldiers have their heavy weapons, lts have airstrikes and arty and any ammo they want, engineers even have their mines and nade launcher.

Yor distrobution of classes would suck, 90% of people running around with panzas and mg42s flamers or worse yet totally useless soldiers with smgs.

good point, nice to see someone sticking up for medics for a change, i think the problem liese with the soldiers. Shurely they should be the class who are doing the majority of the hand to hand fighting as they have no special abitites but they are given realy crap guns. give the solders a machine gun thats better than a mp40/thompson and doesnt overheat or anything

When 90% of the players are soldiers then smg soldiers are not useless, they are the backbone of your team (assuming heavy weapons are restricted to 1 each).

SMG soldier is now (in ET and RtCW) pretty uselees since you should go Field/Lieutenant instead of SMG soldier for extra abilities (like ammo throwing).

yeah soldiers should be the backbone of the team but the only real weapon of any good use for a skilled player is the mobile mg for defence, panzers area good 1 kill be skilled smg’s can do mutch more damge, mortar is a bit of a gamble where artilary can do a better job, flamer is crap in almost every situation. give the soldiers some good guns

in games with good teamwork you can get groups of 4 medics + other players makign charges, or in a defensive position. A skilled PF player is often the guy who makes the difference in either putting down the charge with a nice 3 man kill&gib of medics, or at punching a hole in that defence.

Mortar is a more controlled artillery, you can deny defenders a sweet defence spot and unlike arty you can easily time it so it does not also have the same negative for your own team as it does for the enemy (i.e. area denial). Mortar is much more flexible, and can be used in areas you dont have direct line of sight to.

All the weapons and classes have good tactical uses and are crucial, even the covOps - though it often doesnt seem like it on less-skilled servers because really all any team can make good use of is 1 or 2 of them, because their usefullness is very specific.

Imho the medic issue is not such a concen in SW resp. Obj. mode. But in Campaign mode the medic (with nearly all “upgrades”) is far to powerful compared to other classes.

this is a feature for banimod in RTCW, in use on the [FuN] on Marko’s Beach server

and i never really see panzer whores on the server anymore, although if you go to check it out i thhink its a bit more curved than it should be

I thought of a few more idea

  1. Nice music - i dont know about anyone else but i have my music right up in RTCW SP, when its action it really helps me get into things, i get a good feeling, and when you feel good you own

  2. Much much harder SP - you can get a monkey to complete RTCW on hard without dying once, there was no real challenge

  3. Play controled things - kinda like vehicles, but give it different values so you can only move it on different axes and give it phsics like player controled vehicles, to make things like cranes and define a brush like a func_invisible_user that would allow a player to take control of it. you could use it so you can controls trains going along a trck like the tugs on railgun, and mappers could defaine different controls to it that appear on the hud. like when you opperate the tug you have a choice of different speeds and different directions that would be opperated by movement keys

  4. Make some more fun maps with cannons, ice rinks and stuff, to bring more attention to the people who play for fun

  5. need more weapons, just makes the game more interesting

  6. Dont let soldiers use SMG’s - soldiers with SMG (mean from start, not when they get it awarded on level 4) shouldnt be aloud, they could use SMG with another class like medic which brings another point

  7. Medics should have crap weapons, to make up for the ability to heal themselves, something like an SMG only where other people have rifles like an StG 44

Vehicles have NO place in a wolfenstein game. I’d rather see a game where you kill with guns instead of running people over. The whole dodging vehicles > * concept isn’t a good one.

for gods sake keep any drivable viecle out of the game, you just cant compine infintary and viecles in a game sucesfully

infintary need relitively small maps to make up for there lack of speed and lots of close objects for cover etc. also the levels need to be mutch more detailed as you go slow so you notice the finer things

viecles, need large maps as they move faster, to make larger maps the detail needs to reduced. and viecles need large open areas to manouver

to the two things totaly contrast

take bf1942, in a plane you can fly and bomb the enemy in 30 secs, if you get shot down and survive its a 5min walk back to the base. gets very boaring with the endless roling terain

edit/ ok they did it in hl2 but my point is mainly multiplayer

Here’s a new idea:
Headshots should knock you down! This would remove one of the arguably ‘cheap’ kinds of kills where a good player gets insta-kill on you via 3 initial/consecutive headshots.

I think this would also contribute to the arcade-quality of ET that we all like so much (or, at least, that those of us who prefer ET over RTCW like!) – if someone tries to run through a doorway, your initial headshot would knock them down but they could still crawl away or even shoot back.

I know, this would make it harder on defenses but I’ve also suggested that helmets should be more than just decorative: make a headshot an insta-kill on someone not wearing their helmet. Of course, you’d also have to make it possible to pick-up your helmet again after it was knocked-off.

an inbuilt planning utility would be great like in ghost recon where you can draw the routes of the teams onto the map and maybe save it as a file, would be a good thing for clans

Good idea but a farfetch’d stretched idea ontop of it could be to have a ‘Team captain’ slot for clan matches where the captain can draw on his command map and it updates on the other players maps for player posititioning etc…

I think all classes should have a selfheal option like in the rtcw wildwestmod, where your health over time will bounce back to say about 60 health. This way it will balance out the full medic recharge a little bit.

here is the best suggestion of all:

FINISH THE GAME ALREADY!!!

ET is on it’s last legs and so is RTCW in my own opinion. these games are overly dated, graphics wise and playability. You can make all the new maps you want but if the game is just loosing interest because it is still repetative then well you can’t resurrect it.

If Id and their partners don’t come out with RTCW 2 or an equivilant soon, i see a lot of interest being lost. To have a game and drag the development of the sequel out over this long of time is insane.

Waiting for this long, the game better be the best game ever created for that year it is out. There was already a slip that is was being created, a year of release will ease more people’s minds than saying “umm, well, yeah, it is in development but umm i can’t say if it will be out in the next 10 years.”

RTCW is dated 2001, it is 2005 and they can’t say if it is this year, next year, or the following. If they release the game with the doom 3 engine later than 2006, i have a feeling that it will be a waste because that is enough time for other companies to release an engine that blows it away.

I think everyone who played ET in competition or just liked the game, will probably buy RtCW2.
Games will always be extended for years, HL2 was announced maybe a year after Half-Life, you know the deal now.
Q3 engine is still being used for games, latest game on Q3 engine was CoD:UO. Thats from late 2004, it doesnt look outdated in my opnion. Q3 engine is from 2000 (i think, correct me if wrong)
So if RtCW2 will be released in 2006, i think there will be any other engine thats going to blow it away. There have always been 2 main FPS-game engines, Half-Lifes + Q3.

So…once your knocked down,wouldn’t it make you easier to kill ? Dude, it’s not like a knockdown and then instant shield is going to pay off in a war game. Maybe if Sonic the hedgehog had an online game format.

3d map hud !!! for multi level viewing.
And another crazy thought would be, if you’re hit in the head, maybe slowly decreasing health until your medic’d. Well…hmmmm…maybe not. BUT the 3d map hud YES!!!
