[Suggestion] Maybe they should expand three merc squad to five.

(Roldoi) #1

So when playing online unless you have a clan to work with its an absolute shot in the dark as to how well you and your team will enjoy. I think they should expand the squad number so everyone has access to as many merc as they need.

Ok I think I can classify Mercs as
Operators: like Proxy and Fletcher
Medics: like Aura and Sawbones
Spec. weapons: like Rhino and Nader
and Artillery: like Skyhammer and Kira

I think since mercs are generally under these categories so everyone can do any of the four jobs and have an extra slot for another merc in one of these categories.

What do you guys think?

(Yes) #2

It’s a team game, why make it so that everyone can do everything on their own?

(Eddie) #3

Imo.
3 is enough.

(Roldoi) #4

So anyone can do anything the team might need. There is no guarantee your team will choose, or even have, what you need for the group. If five were available, you have every tool at your disposal, but remember you can only play one at a time (You still need your teamwork). I think I’m suggesting they do like tf2 where all classes are available to switch so you can take a merc category that you need.

(capriRocket) #5

i understand a limit of 3 in comp.

i cant see why pub needs a restriction though.

(Ghosthree3) #6

It’s 3 for a reason.

Another enlightening post from Ghosthree3.

3 is enough. Point is the limit is there so you have to do hard decisions when you prepare for battle (same reason why you can’t switch loadouts mid match). It forces you to overcome sticky situations by outplaying the enemy with mercs(and equipment) that might not be suitable for that situation, instead of simply switching to the best pick.

Also you don’t neccesary need all those classes every merc can do everything. Every merc can revive/repair/plant/defuse even damage the EV (granted focusfiring that thing down with SMG-9s is propably not much fun). Its just that some mercs are better at doing it than others and you have to decide wether you want that advantage or not.

I Personaly run this setup most of the time. A pure damage merc (assault/recon) a engineer, and an ammosupport. The only thing I can’t cover with that, is healing/reviving and I have to relay on my teammates to provide for that (luckily quite a few love playing medic). Ofcourse it can happen that I end up in a team that has no medics at all. But that just means we have to play accordingly take care of ourself a bit more and in general play more towards our strength (after all no medics means we have more of something else).

(Ghosthree3) #9

You think it’s easy maintaining this post rate?

(DMaster2) #10

3 is fine, you don’t need that much choice anyway. As long as your mercs are well balanced you should do well in almost all situations. Also i don’t have problems with it because the only merc i’m good with is Vassili and decent with Skyhammer (waiting to test opPhantom)

(frolicsomeCrane) #11

Most of the time I play I don’t even play the other two mercs that I got in my squad, I don’t see a reason to make it even a bigger squad.

(TheWalkinDude) #12

3 forces you to think about what comp you want to bring to a match. Any more than that would make it so you don’t need to rely on your team…

(Ghosthree3) #13

Well I wouldn’t say that. The first part is true though, strategy begins in lobby.

(WolfWithAKnife) #14

I might consider 4 when they make the roster HUGE (if they do), but now 3 is fine.

(Ghosthree3) #15

If the roster gets large enough perhaps this could be revisited. I sort of doubt it will though. This may result in some mercs being forgotten.

I’m not sure they actually plan to make many more mercs however.

(RuleofBooKz) #16

in the matrix it was only one so be thankful we get 3

(Amerika) #17

I’m OK with 3. It’s enough to give you variety while at the same time you can’t do everything and force yourself into a role.

(kAndyREW) #18

i agree here, 3 is good.

(GoobyOfPls) #19

If they increased it past three there would be no teamwork, just one guy doing the objective by himself every once and awhile.

(sinKrin) #20

I like the fact you only get 3 to take in. It leads to some tough decisions but makes it a bit more tactical.
