[suggestion] make Phoenix's healing pulse yield some XP just by using it

Every other medic gets support XP just by using their ability - throwing a health pack to the ground, deploying a healing station etc. If somebody uses the packs or station, further XP is awarded. However, Phoenix gets XP only when he actually heals someone. Using the ability doesn’t give him any XP in and of itself. That’s weird considering that basically any other character (not only medics) gets XP just by using their abilities, regardless of effect (just throwing a grenade gives combat XP, even if it doesn’t hit, etc.).

Thus, I propose for Phoenix to get some XP just for using the health pulse too. Make it +15 support XP or something, doesn’t have to be much. Just make it “equal” to other mercs.

If you fully charge the pulse, you get 20 suppport XP I think. That’s about it though.

Negative, I just tested it. You get the “+20xp” for health pulse only when you actually heal somebody. Naturally, you also get more XP proportional to the amount of HP you have healed. However, you don’t get the +20xp if you release the aura without healing anyone, regardless of how much you charged it

Ah. I just remembered that.

I can see why this would suck, as you basically reward the player for doing nothing, and gives less incentive to healing anyone, as you get xp anyway.

However, as you say every other merc gets support xp for effectively nothing. I’d prefer if you got no xp unless you heal someone, whichever merc you are. But, as I don’t see this happening, I definitely agree with you that Phoenix should be put on level playing field.
