A friend of mine asked me to post a suggestion regarding the headshot-only mode. It says it all on the tin - only headshots do damage
Such a mode would definitely help in learning this important skill and it proved to be popular in games such as “Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory” and “Counter-strike”. What do you guys think?
[suggestion] headshot-only mode
I don’t think the player base is big enough for such a mode to be succesful, as most would just try it once, and most likely never come back.
Isn’t it bigger already than it used to be in Enemy Territory? The mode was quite popular there.
I wouldn’t mind having one or two servers on each region dedicated to it for a starter. If they stay empty, then scrap them. If they are constantly full, then add more later…
i’d like a melee only before a headshot only mode first, but it’s still a nice idea. I’d play it
How about crotch shots only server?
Seriously though, this would probably be something fun if they ever allowed for dedicated servers. Server admins could toss on different mutators (mods) to spice up the game within their server.
I feel like if in the future, SD would allow player hosted servers, any player could open up their server with some options they get to customize to get these kind of game modes. But definitely these game modes sound fun.
A melee mode will never be in this game for one reason. Running speed of mercs. Phantom and speedy mercs will dominate the mode.
And to a headshot-only mode? HELL NO! NO! NO! DEAR GOD NO! WE DON’T NEED A MOD TO FEED AIMBOTTERS!

I say we lure them in that mode and have a peaceful time on the regular servers… Wouldn’t that be great? Aimbotters vs aimbotters trying to see who has the best cheat and we would be testing real aim…
On a serious side note, that’s actually how Titanfall handles cheaters. If they get detected, they don’t get banned, but they get put into a separate matchmaking forever, where they only face other cheaters. So you end up with two player bases. A regular one and a cheating one. And I must say, due to the cheaters’ ability to cheat to their heart’s content without harming the regular community, new cheats don’t need to be developed to circumvent any block, as they’re not blocked. And both, cheaters and regular players are happy. It is most likely one of the games with least cheaters I’ve ever played. Like maybe one or two in the full year I played it.
Headshot only servers are good aim practice, nothing wrong with good aim practice. If you don’t like it, don’t join it, problem solved.
