Suggestion - "Group Buff"

(RaKeD) #1

In order to make things easier after a respawn phase or when having a group of players ahead, to make the game more fluid for teamplayers, it would be neat if one could use the method that is used with the Lazarus Grenade and extend it to all Buff’s.Not neccessarily visually but the method.

When using the Group Buff button all players in-range get Buffed. So after a respawn teamplayers don’t have to turn around and mash buttons while searching players with the mouse. This could also work with a double-tap mechanism for console players or to save buttons on the Pc.

To extend this even more an option would be user friendly in which players could set a value how many Supply pips they want to have lef after a Group Buff.

E.G. The Value is 1 = All Supply pips get used and one get’s saved for the player who gave that Buff (So he can self-buff, have a grenade etc.)

Actually this could be an upgrade from the abilities that you have to buy. Group buff would buff all friends in a small radius around you, maybe for the price of 2 pips, or 1 pip (since you already have to spend 1 point in the ability, I suppose). 2 pips or more if it’s a new ability, and 1 pip if it is an upgrade of the existing so it doesnt gimp the normal use. It would just also buff the teammate nearby, maybe limited to 1 or 2 other team mate than the one you first targeted.

There is definitely something to dig in there, although it could’ve been even more potent with bigger teams / more players.

I like the idea of it costing 2 pips to buff an area, I get tired of holding X and runing with my ridicule swaying wildly and turing me around and **** while handing out buffs.

With these group buffs, I’m thinking of having it’s disadvantage of being able to work on enemies too. Y’all have to be careful of using this during firefights now.

Group buff could be n-1 Where n is the number of players within the radius. At initial spawn this would be problematic, because no class starts with 7 pips… so I don’t know how that would work.

I think the best option would be to make it “Transfer Supplies”-like in that the cost for the group buff is all of your pips. The restriction to it would need to be that you can only use the ability if you have full pips (to eliminate people being able to mass-buff with only 1 pip).

Intriguing idea RaKeD.

LoL n1 ! This could lead to some funny actions.

Thanks for your positive feedback Amish!!

Command Post Upgrade. Comms Hack.

I like the idea. The cost should scale with the number of players receiving the buff, and it should be more expensive than individually buffing each player. The convenience would definitely be worth an extra pip. That would throttle back how many players could get the buff, too, which might help to balance it.

This could be very effective if teammates coordinated their buffs. Like two Engineers agree that one will group buff weapons while the other group buffs Kevlar vests. If it was a Universal Ability I could see just spending a number of pips equal to a number of players in the radius, which would hopefully keep it from being to overpowered.

I know words from the game too: CARB-9. The Tank.

Is this some kind of new forum game where we just post random names that occur in Brink? Because I think that game is just swell (if a little off-topic).

I think he meant that command posts act as a proper “group buffer”. Also, comms hack effect goes to the whole faction.

Would be very good! but what if you spend one extra pip healing the guy that only took one shot, should be able to manualy put a threshold for it in menu.
