Suggestion for Damage

(Terminator514) #1

I thought Brink would be even MORE fun if it took less bullets to kill someone, not ridiculously realistic like Arma II, but more like 4-5 shots instead of practically a full clip to just down a person. I think once the person is downed, that is when it should take a lot of bullets to finish them off to makie it easier for medics + to keep the pace of battle flowing steadily.

What do you guys think?

no i like it the way it is. freakin carb noobs still feels like they kill me too fast. plus it givees a method of escape.

Maybe as a hardcore mode option, but I have NO problem taking down baddies when I hang with my team. If you have 2-4 guys shooting at someone, they drop fast. I also am rolling with Ops, so my caltrops help start the damage on baddies and my guns finish them off.

I like that this game is a bit more arcadey when it comes to one vs one damage. It’s more like an action movie or anime where the characters can take a few shots and keep on rolling.

(coleym91) #4

You want people to die FASTER? Jesus christ.

(tokamak) #5

If you combine that with less weapon spread, less difference between head and body damage, and a better ironsight advantage, you get a game that is far more tactical and far less random. In other words, more like ETQW please. Don’t worry about the weapon variety. Raven Shield has 1-2 shot kills and still has more weapon diversity than Brink.

At least for the PC this is the case. On the consoles this is completely different, I think Brink does a decent job at keeping the fights fun on consoles.

If you have 2-4 guys shooting at someone, they drop fast.

Well, duh.

Un-buffed heavies do take only 4-5 bullets to the body to kill. Double-buffed heavies w/ kevlar, however, do not.

Surely you’re not suggesting the latter be killed by only 4-5 body shots, are you?

Actually, yes, yes I am. I just feel as if when you’re having a 1 vs 1 fight you have to empty your clip into a person. That’s fine in Halo, but we’re not wearing spartan armor.

No sorry, that would mess up completely the balance of the game. If you only had to hit with a few bullets to kill, soldiers wouldn’t be so needed for ammo, and that’s something I love in this game, on most other online shooters where there is a ammo replenishing class very rarely it is very needed except for snipers or rocket ammo (both things not being present or very prevalent in this game).

And to want heavies to go down even quicker?! In my opinion they should have even more health. The only class that really should ‘feel frail’ is the light body type. Heavies should be quite resilient and with powerful weapons but be very slow so they are somewhat cumbersome to use (maybe even more than now) so people just don’t all go with heavies.

What? My point was that this is meant to be a teamwork game, not some Rambo 1vs1 shootout-fest. So, when I play the game properly and roll with my team, I don’t have problems dropping baddies. Hence, therefore, and ergo, forthright. Good day sir!

(NthLegion) #10

Any damage boost/health reduction would require lowering the respawn timers, otherwise attackers could complete entire objectives while the defenders respawn. I’d rather fight longer than respawn more often. I do think that body type health and some weapon damages need adjusting, but I like the general deadliness as is.

(morguen87) #11

Instead of buffing/nerfing damage I’d rather see a tighter spread on all the weapons but smgs. smgs work fine in close combat, which they should, while a tighter spread on ARs and heavy weapons would help make those weapons more deadly without making them shot for shot more powerful than they are now. SMGs would still have the advantage in close range, but the gap in precision between smgs and ARs at medium range would be more pronounced.

(its al bout security) #12

sounds good as long as carb still gets nerfed

(morguen87) #13

Instead of the damage on the carb getting nerfed how about no drum mags can be equipped on smgs? No drum mags on smgs and a tighter spread on all the other weapons should help. It would make the smgs more of a situational shotgun alternative-type weapon…which they should be, while the ARs would be more of the “swiss army knife”…which they should be

(its al bout security) #14

maaybe… that and a sliiight nerf. most maps are really cramped so CQB weapons are almost always over powered

(Seiniyta) #15

I would do a nerf to damage on all weapons but overall (unless some weapons are fine as it s) tighter spread so it takes more bullets to kill someone, but on the other side more bullets actually hit. Which would balance how fast you die

(Je T´aime) #16

Killing faster no thks :< In other fps: Enemy there - aim - try to shoot to late im already dead.
Thats what i dislike in military shooters.

(Exedore) #17

It won’t be happening, the damage level was a conscious decision. Yes, it seems a bit strange to have a guy with no shirt soak as much as a clip, but that’s when one needs to remember that it’s a game.

It is indeed to enhance the tactical side of the game. It would make the game a lot easier to pick up for new players as getting kills is easier, but that would disservice other parts. And it’d mean more campers.

(Smoochy) #18

you need to learn to shoot to the head mate. 2 bursts with any AR and people are dead. hell, i can kill 3 people with an SMG with barrel mag easily enough.

spray and pray shouldnt be rewarded with even easier kills. i think the deaths in brink feel about right.

(crazyfoolish) #19

Really? That would make the shootouts less skillful.

(Nexolate) #20

I can get behind this. Recoil would need to be increased to compensate for this though. The higher the damage the higher the recoil raise.

Brink already has more recoil than most shooters on some weapons, so it’s entirely possible to have a hardcore mode or the like to cater for fans of such.
